Bend High School
Bend Senior High School is the oldest high school located in Bend, Oregon, United States. The school opened , in 1904, but did not graduate its first class of seniors (three students) until 1909. Old Bend High School, the original building, was located downtown on Bond Street, where the Bend-La Pine School District office now stands. The school's mascot is a lava bear. Academics In 2008, 80% of the school's seniors received a high school diploma. Of 406 students, 325 graduated, 50 dropped out, 12 received a modified diploma, and 19 were still in high school in 2009. Old Bend High School
The Old Bend High School is a historic school building in Bend, Oregon, in the United States. Opened in 1925, the building served as a public high school for 31 years and a junior high school for an additional 22 years before being transitioned in 1979 into its current role as the administrative headquarters for the Bend-La Pine School District. Because of its unique architecture and history, the Old Bend High School is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. History Bend's first schoolhouse was opened in 1887. It was located in an abandoned cabin near the Deschutes River in what is now Drake Park. That schoolhouse was replaced in 1904 by a three-story wood-frame school building located at the north end of Bend's downtown area, near where the Deschutes County Court House is located today. ''The Bulletin'' is the daily newspaper of Bend, Oregon, United States. ''The Bulletin'' is owned by EO Media Group, which prior to January 2013 was named the East Oregonian Publishing Company. Over the years, a number of well-known journalists have been associated with the newspaper. History Establishment To start a newspaper in Bend, a printing press and other publishing equipment items were brought overland from the railhead at Shaniko by freight wagon. The ''Bend Bulletin'' was first published as a weekly newspaper on March 27, 1903. At the time, Bend was a mere hamlet in what was then part of Crook County. Luke Musgrave
Lucas Stone Musgrave (born September 2, 2000) is an American football tight end for the Green Bay Packers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Oregon State. He is the nephew of football coach Bill Musgrave. Early years Musgrave was born on September 2, 2000, and attended Bend Senior High School. He was a member of their football, lacrosse, track, and ski racing teams. As a senior, Musgrave caught 31 passes for 563 yards and four touchdowns. USS ''McFaul'' (DDG-74) is an in the United States Navy. She is named for U.S. Navy SEAL Chief Petty Officer Donald L. McFaul. This ship is the 24th destroyer of her class. USS ''McFaul'' was the 11th ship of this class to be built at Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, Mississippi, and construction began on 26 January 1996. She was launched on 18 January 1997 and was christened on 12 April 1997. On 25 April 1998 she had her commissioning ceremony at the Garden City Terminal in Savannah, Georgia.
