Kaspars Stupelis
Kaspars Stupelis (born 7 July 1982) is a Latvian sidecarcross passenger and quadruple World Champion. Stupelis won the 2015 and 2019 World Championship as passenger of Etienne Bax. His previous two world championships were gained when being the passenger in Daniël Willemsen's team. In his time with Willemsen, he also won two Dutch titles in 2003 and 2004, an achievement repeated at the side of Bax in 2012, 2014 and 2015. Sidecarcross world championship results Kaspars Stupelis entered the sidecarcross world championship as a passenger for his fellow Latvian driver Modris Štelle in 2001. His first two seasons alongside Štelle were not particularly successful and it came as a surprise when the reigning world champion, Daniël Willemsen, picked him as his passenger for the 2003 season. 2016 Sidecarcross World Championship
The 2016 FIM Sidecarcross World Championship, the 37th edition of the competition, started on 10 April and finished after eleven events on 18 September 2016. The championship was won by Belgian rider Jan Hendrickx and his Dutch passenger Ben van den Bogaart. For Hendrickx it was the first title while van den Bogaart won his third, having previously been World Champion as passenger of Ben Adriaenssen in 2013 and 2014. Adriaenssen, with passenger Lauris Daiders, finished second, 43 points behind while British riders Stuart Brown and Josh Chamberlain came third. The defending champions were Etienne Bax from the Netherlands and his Latvian passenger Kaspars Stupelis, winning their first-ever World Championship together in 2015, also Stupelis had been World Champion twice before with Daniël Willemsen in 2003 and 2004. 2015 Sidecarcross World Championship
The 2015 FIM Sidecarcross World Championship, the 36th edition of the competition, started on 6 April and finished after fifteen events on 20 September 2015. The defending champions were Ben Adriaenssen from Belgium and his Dutch passenger Ben van den Bogaart, who won the 2013 and 2014 World championships together. Adriaenssen suffered a foot injury during the fourth Grand Prix of the season, at the time sitting in second place of the World Championship, and was forced to miss the remainder of the season. Van den Bogaart later rejoined the series at the seventh round, partnering Belgian rider Jan Hendrickx. The 2015 World Championship was won by Etienne Bax and Kaspars Stupelis. 2011 Sidecarcross World Championship
The 2011 FIM Sidecarcross World Championship, the 32nd edition of the competition, started on 3 April and finished after thirteen race weekends on 11 September 2011. The defending champions were eight time winners Daniël Willemsen from the Netherlands and his passenger Gertie Eggink. In 2011, Willemsen raced with 43-year-old Sven Verbrugge as his passenger, after an injury to first-choice passenger Roman Vasyliaka. Willemsen and Verbrugge were a team for a fifth time in the history of the competition, with the combination winning the 2005 and 2006 titles together. Willemsen temporarily switched to Ondrej Cermak as his passenger for the first of two German GP's because of an injury to Verbrugge.
