Ben Henderson (politician)
Ben Henderson (born November 13, 1957) is a member of the Edmonton City Council, currently representing Ward 8. He was a candidate in the 2001 municipal election and 2004 municipal election and gained his seat on City Council in the 2007 municipal election, following Michael Phair's retirement. He is married to former Edmonton-Centre Liberal MLA, Laurie Blakeman. Henderson was the Liberal Candidate for Edmonton Mill Woods in the 2021 Canadian Federal Election. Naomi Rankin
Naomi Rankin (born c. 1953) is a Canadian politician and the leader of the Communist Party – Alberta since 1992. She is the longest-serving political party leader in the province, and has run as a perennial candidate in every federal and provincial election in Alberta since 1982. Political career Rankin became leader of the Communist Party in Alberta in 1992, after the collapse of the Soviet Union sent the party into crisis. Since 1982, she has run in every provincial and federal election for the Communist Party – Alberta and the Communist Party of Canada respectively. Rankin herself usually fields around 100 votes. Tim Uppal
Tim Uppal (born November 14, 1974) is a Canadian politician, banker, and radio host who is the member for Edmonton Mill Woods in the Parliament of Canada. He served as the Conservative Member of Parliament for Edmonton—Sherwood Park from 2008 to 2015. On July 15, 2013, Uppal was moved from Minister of State for Democratic Reform to the portfolio of Minister of State (Multiculturalism). Uppal's riding was dismantled ahead of the 2015 election, and he opted to transfer to the newly created riding of Edmonton Mill Woods. He lost to Liberal candidate Amarjeet Sohi, but won the seat from Sohi in the 2019 election. He was re-elected in 2021. The 2021 Canadian federal election was held on September 20, 2021, to elect members of the House of Commons to the 44th Canadian Parliament. The writs of election were issued by Governor General Mary Simon on August 15, 2021, when Prime Minister Justin Trudeau requested the dissolution of parliament for a snap election.
