Belgrave (band)
Belgrave was an artistic pop band from Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The band consists of Trevor Boucher on vocals, his brother Liam Boucher on keyboards, their cousin Catherine Cere on violin, Michael Bufo on guitar, and Jonathan Powter on drums. History The band was formed in September 2009 under the name Coral Red. In March of that year, the Sam Roberts Band and Coral Red performed at a private event together. During their performance, the band drew the attention of producer Joseph Donovan who invited them to support his band Receivers in May of that same year. The reviews were positive and Donovan arranged to produce the band that summer. Following their performance with Scotland's We Were Promised Jetpacks, the band changed their name to Belgrave on August 26, 2010. After six months in studio Belgrave emerged with a six-song self-titled EP in May 2011. Pop Music
Pop music is a genre of popular music that originated in its modern form during the mid-1950s in the United States and the United Kingdom. The ''Ottawa Sun'' is a daily newspaper in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is published by Sun Media. It began publication in 1983 as the ''Ottawa Sunday Herald'', until it was acquired by (then) Toronto Sun Publishing Corporation in 1988. In April 2015, Sun Media papers were acquired by Postmedia. A Sunday edition of the newly named ''Ottawa Sun'' began publication on September 4, 1988 and a daily publication started on November 7, 1988. Sam Roberts Band
Sam Roberts (born October 2, 1974) is a Canadian rock singer-songwriter who has released seven albums. His debut EP ''The Inhuman Condition'', reached the Canadian charts in 2002. He and his bandmates have released three albums as Sam Roberts and four albums as Sam Roberts Band. He is also a member of Canadian supergroup Anyway Gang, who released their debut self-titled album in 2019. Roberts has been nominated, together with his band, for fifteen Juno Awards, winning six, including Artist of the Year twice (2004 and 2009) and Album of the Year once (2004). Joseph Donovan (producer)
Joseph Donovan is a music producer, engineer, and musician. His credits include the Juno Award winning album Love at the End of the World by Sam Roberts and albums by The High Dials, and The Dears. He is currently guitarist with the Montreal band Receivers, an offshoot of his now defunct band Marlowe (1996–2005). Early career In 1996 songwriters Joseph Donovan and Alex Olsen's careers came to fruition upon forming the band Marlowe. Marlowe consisted of Donovan on Guitar, Olsen on vocals and keyboard, Jason Thomas, George Donoso and Eric Fares. The band received positive reviews and support but ultimately struggled through member changes and lack of album support. This forced Donovan and Olsen to chart their own course and caused the development of Donovan's music production career with Stock Market Audio, co-owned by Adrian Popovich. We Were Promised Jetpacks are a Scottish indie rock band originally from Edinburgh, formed in 2003. The band consists of Adam Thompson (vocals, guitar), Sean Smith (bass) and Darren Lackie (drums). Stuart McGachan (keyboards, guitar) was a member of the band from 2012 to 2015. On 2 July 2019, founding member Michael Palmer (guitar) announced that he was leaving the band. The band's debut album, '' These Four Walls'', was released on 15 June 2009 on Fat Cat Records. In October 2011 the band released their second full-length album, ''In the Pit of the Stomach''. CMJ Holdings Corp. is a music events and online media company, originally founded in 1978, which ran a website, hosted an annual festival in New York City, and published two magazines, ''CMJ New Music Monthly'' and ''CMJ New Music Report''. The company folded around 2017, but was bought by Amazing Radio in 2019 who will bring back the CMJ Music Marathon in New York, along with other new live and live-streamed offerings. Pietro Amato
Pietro Amato is a French horn player with the rock bands Torngat, Bell Orchestre, and The Luyas. He has also performed with Arcade Fire. Career In 2001, Amato, along with keyboardist Mathieu Charbonneau and percussionist Julien Poissant, formed Torngat, his longest standing musical project. The band self-released music for several years before signing with the Alien8 label. In 2006 Amati performed with the Bell Orchestre at the Montreal Jazz Festival, and promoted the group's release ''Recording a Tape the Colour of the Light'' with a March tour in Europe and a May tour of the US. Belgrave (album)
''Belgrave'' is the self-titled debut studio EP by Canadian artistic pop band Belgrave, released in May 2011. Background The EP is a compilation of songs originally found on Belgrave's unreleased demo. The songs were written between 2009-2010 and submitted to producer Joseph Donovan. Donovan spent nearly six months dedicating much of his time perfecting Belgrave's sound. Subsequently, the EP's launch date had been delayed twice. February 11 at Montreal's La Sala Rossa and May 4 at O Patro Vys were original launch dates until the band and Donovan finally settled on May 27. The Montreal Gazette's review of ''Belgrave'' was positive. While CHOM 97.7 has featured the track ''Tokyo'' multiple times, many music blogs raved about the track ''Six Minutes''. Pop Montreal
POP Montreal is an annual music festival occurring in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, in the early fall, usually at the end of September or the beginning of October. More than 400 bands are scheduled to play in more than 50 venues across the city, mostly located in the Mile End area. Along with music, POP Montreal has music-related film (Film Pop), art events (Art Pop) as well as a conference (POP Symposium) and a cultural fair called Puces Pop. The initial festival in 2002 saw 80 musical acts performing in 40 venues around Saint Laurent Boulevard. The name of the festival was inspired by the Halifax Pop Explosion.
