Belarusian Ice Hockey Association
The Belarusian Ice Hockey Association ( be, Федэрацыя хакея Рэспублікі Беларусь, russian: Федерация хоккея Республики Беларусь) is the governing body of ice hockey in Belarus. It was founded on 6 March 1992 and became a member of the IIHF on 2 May 1992. The Belarusian Ice Hockey Association hosted the 2014 IIHF World Championship, and was planned to co-host the 2021 IIHF World Championship. Because of "safety and security issues," the International Ice Hockey Federation decided that the 2021 World Championship would not be played in Belarus. Since 9 September 2020, the Belarusian Ice Hockey Association has been headed by Dzmitry Baskau who is accused of being involved in the killing of protester Raman Bandarenka. Dzmitry Baskau
Dzmitry Baskau (Belarusian: Дзмітрый Юр’евіч Баскаў, Russian: Дмитрий Юрьевич Басков; born on August 25, 1978, in Minsk, Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic) is a Belarusian former ice hockey player and businessman. He served as chief of Belarusian Ice Hockey Association in 2020—2021. He is the chief of the ice hockey group of Alexander Lukashenko and also the chief of the HC Dinamo Minsk from 2018 to 2020. On 14 September 2021, he was appointed to the Council of the Republic. Life Until 2002 Baskau studied law at Belarusian State University. Then he got learning on an ice hockey coach done in the Institute of Advanced Training and Retraining of Belarusian State University of Physical Culture. Belsat ( be, Белсат; pl, Biełsat; stylised as B☰LSAT) is a Polish free-to-air satellite television channel aimed at Belarus. The channel is a subsidiary of TVP S.A. From the outset, it has been co-funded by the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and international donors. Ice hockey in Belarus is governed by the Belarus Ice Hockey Federation. Belarusian men's and junior national teams participated at the IIHF World Championships. Belarus has been a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) since May 6, 1992. The national hockey team finished fourth at the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics following an upset win over Sweden in the quarterfinals, and regularly competed in the World Championships. Raman Bandarenka
Raman Bandarenka ( be, Раман Бандарэнка) (August 1, 1989, Minsk – November 12, 2020, Minsk) was an aspiring Belarusian designer, and shop manager. His death is associated with the protests against the 2020 Belarusian presidential election. Raman Bandarenka died after reportedly being beaten by security forces. Police forces said they found him uncounscious and called an ambulance. According to sources, masked assailants in civilian clothing beat him up, in the yard of his apartment building, in the evening of November 11, 2020, in Minsk. Locally, this apartment complex is known as " Square of Changes" (Ploscha Peramen). Later, a minibus took him away.
