Beirut Club
Beirut Club () is a basketball team based in Beirut, Lebanon, who plays in the Lebanese Basketball League (LBL), the top-flight of basketball in Lebanon. Home games of the club are played in the Stade Nouhad Naufal. The club was first promoted to the Lebanese Basketball League in 2017, and has played there ever since. The club won their first LBL championship in 2022, defeating Al Riyadi in the final. Beirut Club has also been the runners-up of the Arab Championship twice, with consecutive finals in 2018 and 2019. Beirut Club also has a professional women's team. Lebanese Basketball League
The Lebanese Basketball League is the top-tier professional men's basketball league in Lebanon. It is organized annually as a national championship with playoffs and a national cup by the Lebanese Basketball Federation (FLB). Currently, the league consists of 12 teams, of which six are located in Beirut. The most successful club in the history of the league is Al Riyadi who have won a record 16 championships. History The initial Lebanese basketball league was formed in as early as the 1950s; however, it was stopped during the Lebanese Civil War. In 1992, the league was reformed into a fully professional format. In 1997, Sporting Club (Al Riyadi) finished as Lebanese champions, allowing them to participate in the 1998 FIBA Asia Champions Cup . There, they finished 3rd place. West Asia Super League
The West Asia Super League (WASL) is an international basketball league organised by FIBA Asia, consisting of clubs from Western Asia and Gulf regions, in addition to the representatives of India and Kazakhstan. The league was announced in 2022 and started with the inaugural season from December. The league exists out of 18 teams, divided in two sub-zones. The champions and runners-up of each season qualify for the FIBA Asia Champions Cup. History On March 31, 2022 FIBA announced the creation of the West Asia Super League. The United Arab Emirates-based company eVulpa was appointed as partner for its commercial rights.
