Behula (TV Series)
''Behula'' is a mythological Bengali television serial which was broadcast on GEC Star Jalsha in 2010, weekdays at 9:30pm . It starred Payel Dey, Arka Majumdar, Rimjhim Mitra, Chandrayee Ghosh, Kaushik Chakraborty and Rupanjana Mitra, produced by Shree Venkatesh Films, it is based on the story of Behula and Lakhindar. It has been aired on Star Vijay as a dubbed Tamil show ''Mangayin Sabatham'' and on Sahara One as a dubbed Hindi show under the same name. This serial has also been dubbed in Assamese language as ''Soti Beula'' and aired on Focus Hifi. It was re-aired on Star Jalsha during lockdown period, due to COVID-19. Plot The show was adapted from the Hindu mythological story of Manasamangal Kāvya and Behula. Star Vijay is an Indian Tamil language general entertainment pay television channel owned by Disney Star (formerly Star India), a subsidiary of Asianet Star Communications. Locket Chatterjee (born 4 December 1974) is an Indian actress, politician and Member of Parliament for Hooghly (Lok Sabha constituency), West Bengal, India. She is also a classical dancer. Chand Sadagar ( Assamese: চান্দ সদাগৰ, Bengali: চাঁদ সদাগর) was a rich and powerful sea merchant of Champaknagar in Eastern India. This merchant has been claimed by both the Assamese and Bengali people of India to be associated with their respective states and communities. Payel De, also known as Payel Dey, is a Bengali actress. She began her career in 2006 with Zee Bangla's Ekdin Pratidin daily soap and portrayed the character Chandrayee as a supporting role. Manasamangal Kāvya
Manasamangal Kāvya ( bn, মনসামঙ্গল কাব্য) is the oldest of the Mangal-Kāvya and narrates how the snake-goddess Manasa established her worship in Bengal by converting a worshipper of Shiva to her own worship. It is believed she came to Bengal with the Dravidians who worshipped her in the hope that she would protect them against snakes. Manasa is also known as Bisahari, Janguli and Padmavati.
