''Beddy Rays'' is the eponymous debut studio album from Australian rock group, Beddy Rays. The line-up was Lewis McKenna on guitar, Bradley O'Connor on bass guitar, Jackson van Issum "Jacko" on lead vocals and guitar, and Benjamin Wade on drums. It was released on 29 July 2022 and peaked at number 8 on the ARIA Albums chart. At the 2022 ARIA Music Awards, the album was nominated for Michael Gudinski Breakthrough Artist. At the National Indigenous Music Awards 2023, the album was nominated for Album of the Year. Background ''Beddy Rays'' is Beddy Rays' debut album. The band formed in 2017 in Brisbane. Beddy Rays
Beddy Rays are an Australian rock band from the outer Brisbane suburb of Redland Bay, Queensland. With music described as "rollicking coastal punk rock", they are best known for their 2020 single "Sobercoaster". The band have supported Tones and I on tour, as well as Dune Rats and Hockey Dad. Origins The four band members—Jacko, Lewy, Brad, and Benny—met in 2002 as young children at primary school. Their band name is derived from a spoonerism of "Reddy Bay", which is a common abbreviation for Redland Bay. In primary school the entire band's favourite band was Green Day. In high school they went through a phase of loving hardcore music and would attend shows at the youth centre shows. The band was started after the members left high school. Their first show they played was at a party at vocalist-guitarist Jackson's house while his parents were away. The ARIA Charts are the main Australian music sales charts, issued weekly by the Australian Recording Industry Association. The charts are a record of the highest selling songs and albums in various genres in Australia. The 2022 ARIA Music Awards were the 36th Annual Australian Recording Industry Association Music Awards (generally known as ARIA Music Awards or simply The ARIAs) and consist of a series of awards, including the 2022 ARIA Artisan Awards, ARIA Fine Arts Awards and the ARIA Awards.
