Columbiana County is a county located in the U.S. state of Ohio. As of the 2020 census, the population was 101,877. The county seat is Lisbon and its largest city is Salem. The county name is derived from the explorer of the Americas, Christopher Columbus. Columbiana County comprises the Salem, OH Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is also included in the larger Youngstown-Warren, OH-PA Combined Statistical Area. Due to its location, Columbiana County is traditionally considered a part of Appalachian Ohio. It lies along State Route 154 at the confluence of Elk Run and the Little Beaver Creek and has the ZIP code 44415. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) is the Ohio state government agency charged with ensuring "a balance between wise use and protection of our natural resources for the benefit of all." ODNR regulates the oil and gas industry, the mining industry, hunting and fishing, and dams, while maintaining natural resources such as state parks, state nature preserves, state wildlife areas, state forests, and state waterways.
