Beatrice Alemagna
Beatrice Alemagna (born 1973) is an Italian illustrator and author. Biography Born in Bologna, Italy in 1973, Beatrice Alemagna studied at the Graphic School in Urbino (ISIA), and in 1997 moved to Paris, where she currently lives. She worked as a poster artist for Centre Pompidou for over 10 years. Her book ''On a Magical Do-Nothing Day'' was among the ten best illustrated children's books of 2017, according to the ''New York Times'' and New York Public Library. This book was also awarded the Golden Medal for Original Art by the Society of Illustrators, New York. Beatrice Alemagna is the recipient of the 2010 Andersen Prize for Illustrator of the year, and was nominated to the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award four times (in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017). The Golden Baobab Prize (formerly The Baobab Prize) is awarded annually to African writers of children's literature and young adult literature. The Golden Baobab Prize accepts entries of unpublished short stories written by African citizens irrespective of age, race or geographical location. The Bologna Children's Book Fair or La fiera del libro per ragazzi is the leading professional fair for children's books in the world. Since 1963, it is held yearly for four days in March or April in Bologna, Italy. Giovanni Francesco "Gianni" Rodari (; 23 October 1920 – 14 April 1980) was an Italian writer and journalist, most famous for his works of children's literature, notably '' Il romanzo di Cipollino''. For his lasting contribution as a children's author he received the biennial Hans Christian Andersen Medal in 1970. He is considered as Italy's most important 20th-century children's author and his books have been translated into many languages, though few have been published in English.
