Bayview is an unincorporated community in the northwest United States, located in Kootenai County, Idaho, north of Coeur d'Alene. On the southwest shore of Lake Pend Oreille, Bayview is east-northeast of Athol. The community is served by State Highway 54 and a post office with ZIP code 83803; its approximate elevation is above sea level. Nearby is Farragut State Park, formerly the Farragut Naval Training Station, a major training facility during World War II. The U.S. Navy's Acoustic Research Detachment operates from Bayview, testing new submarine and surface ship shapes and subsystems. Idaho State Highway 54
State Highway 54 (SH-54) is a state highway in Kootenai County, Idaho, United States, that connects Idaho State Highway 41 (SH-41) in Spirit Lake with Hudson Bay Road and North Main Avenue in Bayview. Route description SH-54 begins at an intersection with SH-41 in the on the southern edge of Spirit Lake. The route travels east out of the city, passing by Timberlake High School. SH-54 passed through the city of Athol, with a diamond interchange with U.S. Route 95 immediately thereafter. At Smylie Boulevard, the road continues east, turning northeast at a circular intersection with Good Hope Road, where it enters Farragut State Park. SH-54 continues near Lake Pend Oreille, where it turns north into the town of Bayview. Bitterroot Range
The Bitterroot Range is a mountain range and a subrange of the Rocky Mountains that runs along the border of Montana and Idaho in the northwestern United States. The range spans an area of and is named after the bitterroot (''Lewisia rediviva''), a small pink flower that is the state flower of Montana. History In 1805, the Corps of Discovery, led by Meriwether Lewis and William Clark and aided by Sacajawea of the Shoshone Native American tribe, crossed the Bitterroot Range several times. Lewis first crossed the mountains at Lemhi Pass on August 12, then returned across the pass to meet Clark. The entire expedition then crossed the pass to the Salmon River valley, and the next month entered the Bitterroot Valley from the south via either Lost Trail Pass or Chief Joseph Pass. Coeur D'Alene Mountains
The Coeur d'Alene Mountains are the northwesternmost portion of the Bitterroot Range, part of the Rocky Mountains, located in northern Idaho and westernmost Montana in the Western United States. The mountain range spans an area of and its two highest peaks are the Cherry Peak and the Patricks Knob. The range is named after the Coeur d'Alene Tribe. Several decent-sized roadless areas exist in the Montana portion of the Coeur d'Alenes.
