Bayanihan Park is a park in Clark Freeport Zone, Angeles City, Philippines. Background Bayanihan Park is geographically located in the city of Angeles, Philippines. While the park is situated outside the physical gates of the Clark Freeport and Special Economic Zone, the park itself covering an area of is declared as part of the freeport zone as per Republic Act No. 9400. It is formerly known as Astro Park. One of the major landmarks of the city of Angeles, the Salakot Arch, is situated inside the park. The structure's roof resembles that of a salakot, a traditional hat. It was built during the administration of then-President Ferdinand Marcos to commemorate the revision of the Military Bases Agreement between the Philippine and United States government in 1979. The Clark Freeport and Special Economic Zone (CFEZ), often shortened to Clark, refers to an area in Central Luzon, Philippines. The CFEZ in Pampanga covers portions of the cities of Angeles and Mabalacat and portions of the town of Porac while parts of the area in Tarlac include portions of the towns of Capas and Bamban, Tarlac. The CFEZ divided into two areas, the Clark Freeport Zone (CFZ) and the Clark Special Economic Zone (CSEZ). The New Clark City is part of the Clark Special Economic Zone. The CFZ covers the area of the former United States Air Force facility, Clark Air Base. Salakot
Salakót is a traditional lightweight headgear from the Philippines that is commonly used during pre-colonial era up to the present day, used for protection against the sun and rain. Every ethnolinguistic group in the archipelago has their own variant, but they are all usually dome-shaped or cone-shaped and can range in size from having very wide brims to being almost helmet-like. They are made from various materials including bamboo, rattan, nito ferns, and bottle gourd. The tip of the crown commonly has a spiked or knobbed finial made of metal or wood. It is held in place by an inner headband and a chinstrap. The salakot hat also influenced the pith helmet used by European colonizers.
