It was one of the civil war battles that took place inside the National Revolutionary Army. Chiang-Gui War
The Chiang-Gui War () was a military conflict between the Nationalist government of Chiang Kai-shek against the warlord army of Guangxi that lasted from March until June 1929. A later conflict, the 2nd Chiang Gui-War, occurred between the two opposing factions in November and December of the same year. Background In late 1927, the nationalist governments of Wuhan and Nanking were at odds. The Guangxi clique, led by Li Zongren, managed to become one of the main cliques loyal to the Nanking National Government. The success of Chiang Kai-shek's Nanking regime against its rival Wuhan government, chaired by Wang Jingwei, and the failure of the Xuzhou campaign meant that He Yingqin and other important generals were on Chiang's side. In addition to politics, the pro-Chiang military also defeated the leader of the Wuhan government-loyal military, Tang Shengzhi, in the Wuhan-Nanking War. Guiping
Guiping () is a county-level city in eastern Guangxi, China. It is under the administration of Guigang City, located at the confluence of the Qian River, Qian and Yu River (China), Yu rivers, which are the Xi River's primary north and south tributaries, respectively. Names Guiping was formerly known as Xunzhou. From 1855 to 1861 it was the capital of the rebel state of Da Cheng Rebellion, Da Cheng and was called ''Xiujing''.
