Basque Pelota World Cup
The Basque Pelota World Cup (not to be confused with the Basque Pelota World Championship) is a set of four quadrennial tournaments organized by the International Federation of Basque Pelota on each of the disciplines of Basque Pelota: Trinquete, Fronton 30m, Fronton 36m and Fronton 54m. The FIPV organizes this tournaments on the years where the World Championships is not played. History The first World Cup tournament was played in 1995, only for men, in the discipline of Fronton 36m, with the modalities of Hand pelota (individual and pairs), Paleta cuero and Pala corta. The second tournament was played in 1997 in the discipline of Trinquete, including modalities of Hand pelota (men's individual and pairs), Xare, Paleta cuero and Paleta goma (men and women). Basque Pelota
Basque pelota (Basque: '' pilota'', Spanish: '' pelota vasca'', French: '' pelote basque'') is the name for a variety of court sports played with a ball using one's hand, a racket, a wooden bat or a basket, against a wall (''frontis or fronton'') or, more traditionally, with two teams face to face separated by a line on the ground or a net. The roots of this class of games can be traced to the Greek and other ancient cultures. The term ''pelota'' probably comes from the Vulgar Latin term ''pilotta'' (ball game). It is a diminutive form of the word ''pila'' which may relate to a hard linen or leather ball filled with ''pilus'' (fur or hair) or to the Latin words for strike or spade and is related to the English word '' pellet''. Pau (, ) is a Communes of France, commune overlooking the Pyrenees, and prefecture of the Departments of France, department of Pyrénées-Atlantiques, regions of France, region of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France. Tepito
Tepito is a barrio located in Colonia Morelos in the Cuauhtémoc borough of Mexico City bordered by Avenida del Trabajo, Paseo de la Reforma, Eje 1 and Eje 2. Most of the neighborhood is taken up by the colorful tianguis, a traditional open-air market. Tepito's economy has been linked to the tianguis since pre-Hispanic times. Estimates of the area's population may vary from 38,000 to 120,000 residents, with an estimated 10,000 more who come in during the day to sell in the market. Zinacantepec
Zinacantepec is a municipality located just west of the city of Toluca in Mexico State, Mexico. The municipal seat is the town of San Miguel Zinacantepec. Zinacantepec is Nahuatl for "bat mountain" and its Aztec glyph is a bat on a mountain. It is named after a small mountain which contained two caves which used to be filled with thousands of bats. In the 18th century, the residents of this mountain moved to settle alongside the Franciscan monastery established here in the 16th century. This monastery is the best preserved of a network of missionaries established in the Toluca Valley in the mid 16th century.
