Barnston, Essex
Barnston is a village and civil parish in Essex, England. The village is on the B1008 road, about south-east of Great Dunmow and north-north-west from the county town of Chelmsford. The local churches are St Andrews and the Mission Evangelical Church. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 850, increasing to 947 at the census 2011 Governance Barnston is part of the electoral ward named Barnston and High Easter. The total population of this ward at the 2011 census was 1,701. The first tier of local government is Barnston parish council. The parish is in the district of Uttlesford and in the parliamentary constituency of Saffron Walden. Notable residents Thomas Watson (c. 1620–1686), puritan, retired to the village and died there. Bridget Plowden (1910–2000), educational reformer, lived in later life at Martels Manor, on the edge of the village. Barnston is a village on the Wirral Peninsula, in the county of Merseyside, England, situated to the north east of Heswall. Administratively, the village is in the Pensby & Thingwall Ward of the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral and the parliamentary constituency of Wirral West. At the 2001 Census, Barnston had a population of 3,620 (1,700 males, 1,920 females) At the 2011 Census, the population was 947 (501 males, 441 females). Barnston Island
Barnston Island is an unincorporated area, unincorporated island located in the Greater Vancouver metropolitan area of British Columbia, Canada. Most of the island is part of Metro Vancouver Electoral Area A; the remainder is Barnston Island Indian Reserve No. 3, which is outside Electoral Area A limits and is under the governance of the Katzie First Nation, headquartered across the river at their main reserve in Pitt Meadows. Although the island is unincorporated and not officially part of any municipality, mailing addresses on the island use Surrey, British Columbia, Surrey as the city name. Located in the Fraser River between Surrey and Pitt Meadows, Barnston Island was named in 1827 for Hudson's Bay Company Clerk George Barnston. Barnston Manor
Barnston Manor is a 13th-century manor house and farm near Church Knowle in Dorset, England. The house is a Grade I listed building, and some farm buildings at the property are also Grade II listed. History Barnston Manor was built in the 13th century, around from Church Knowle in Dorset, England. It is on the site of a former Saxon house, which may also have been preceded by a Roman house on the site. Barnston Manor is believed to be one of the oldest houses in Dorset. It has been owned by the same family for 700 years; in the 16th-century it was owned by local MP John Clavell, and in the 17th-century it was lived in by his descendants, until they built Smedmore House. One chimney in the house is believed to have been added in the 15th century. In the 16th century, Barnston Manor was expanded with the addition of a west wing, as well as stone fireplaces.
