Barbette Mountain
Barbette Mountain is summit located on the shared border of Alberta and British Columbia, Canada. Description Barbette Mountain is situated on the Continental Divide and on the boundary of Banff National Park. It is part of the Waputik Mountains which is a subrange of the Canadian Rockies. The nearest higher neighbor is Mistaya Mountain, to the southeast. Precipitation runoff from Barbette drains west to the Blaeberry River via Wildcat Creek, and east into tributaries of the Mistaya River. Topographic relief is significant as the summit rises 1,750 meters (5,740 ft) above the Blaeberry Valley in . Waputik Mountains
The Waputik Mountains are a mountain range of the Canadian Rockies, located on the Continental Divide of the Americas, Continental Divide between Banff National Park, Banff and Yoho National Park. Covering an area of , the range is located west of the Howse River, Howse, Blaeberry River, Blaeberry and Amiskwi Rivers and east of the Bow River, Bow and Mistaya Rivers and south to Kicking Horse Pass. Named in 1884 by George Mercer Dawson, George M. Dawson, "waputik" is the Nakoda (Stoney), Stoney Indian word for Mountain goat, white goat. Mistaya River
The Mistaya River is a short river in western Alberta, Canada. It flows through the Canadian Rockies, and a section of the Icefields Parkway was built along its course. Mistaya River originates in Peyto Lake, a glacial lake of typical blue colour (due to rock flour). Mistaya flows north-west, receiving the waters of creeks such as Delta, Silverhorn, Cirque, Noyes, Chephren, Totem, Epaulette, Bison, Kaufmann and Sarbach. A series of elongated lakes are formed along the river: Mistaya Lake and Waterfowl Lakes. Mistaya merges into the North Saskatchewan River at Saskatchewan River Crossing. The Köppen climate classification is one of the most widely used climate classification systems. It was first published by German-Russian climatologist Wladimir Köppen (1846–1940) in 1884, with several later modifications by Köppen, notably in 1918 and 1936. Laramide Orogeny
The Laramide orogeny was a time period of mountain building in western North America, which started in the Late Cretaceous, 70 to 80 million years ago, and ended 35 to 55 million years ago. The exact duration and ages of beginning and end of the orogeny are in dispute. The Laramide orogeny occurred in a series of pulses, with quiescent phases intervening. Sedimentary rocks are types of rock that are formed by the accumulation or deposition of mineral or organic particles at Earth's surface, followed by cementation. Conrad Kain
Conrad Kain (10 August 1883, Nasswald – 2 February 1934, Cranbrook, British Columbia) was an Austrian mountain guide who guided extensively in Europe, Canada, and New Zealand, and was responsible for the first ascents of more than 60 routes in British Columbia. He is particularly known for pioneering climbs in the Purcell Mountains and the first ascents of Mount Robson (1913), Mount Louis (1916) and Bugaboo Spire (1916). Life Kain was born in poverty in a small village in Lower Austria. His father was a miner who died when Kain was 8. In his youth he worked as a goatherd in the Rax Alps and from 1898 to 1904 he worked at stone quarries in Veitsch and Hirschwang. His free time he spent climbing, and by 1904 he guided his first clients, becoming an officially recognized professional guide in 1906. He guided his clients not only in Austria (including the Dolomites), but also in Switzerland and France, including the Matterhorn, La Meije and several first ascents.

Barbette
Barbettes are several types of gun emplacement in terrestrial fortifications or on naval ships. In recent naval usage, a barbette is a protective circular armour support for a heavy gun turret. This evolved from earlier forms of gun protection that eventually led to the pre-dreadnought. The name ''barbette'' ultimately comes from fortification - it originally meant a raised platform or mound, as in the French phrase ''en barbette'', which refers to the practice of firing a cannon over a parapet rather than through an embrasure in a fortification's casemate. The former gives better angles of fire but less protection than the latter.
