Bangladesh Public Service Commission
Bangladesh Public Service Commission ( bn, বাংলাদেশ সরকারী কর্ম কমিশন) is a quasi judicial constitutional body established in 1972. The commission is responsible for the recruitment of civil service servants in the Bangladesh government. It was formed by Section 137 of Part IX, Chapter II of the Constitution of Bangladesh. History The commission started as a public service commission in 1926 during British India. It was later known as the East Pakistan Public service commission after the partition of India. After the Independence of Bangladesh it was established as the Bangladesh Public Service Commission in 1972. For a while it used the Chummery House as its headquarters. Government Seal Of Bangladesh
The Government Seal of Bangladesh ( bn, বাংলাদেশ সরকারের সীল ''Bangladesh Sarkarer Sil'') is used by the Cabinet of Bangladesh and the Government of Bangladesh on official documents. One version is used on the cover page of Bangladeshi passports. The seal features the same design elements as the first flag of Bangladesh in a circular setting. The outer white ring is shown with the caption of the official name of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh in Bengali: ''গণপ্রজাতন্ত্রী বাংলাদেশ সরকার'' with four red 5-pointed stars. Iajuddin Ahmed
Iajuddin Ahmed (1 February 193110 December 2012) was the President of Bangladesh, serving from 6 September 2002 until 12 February 2009. From late October 2006 to January 2007, he also served as Chief Advisor of the caretaker government. From October 2006 to early 2008, his responsibilities as president included the Defense Ministry of the caretaker government. With a doctorate in soil science, Ahmed became a full professor at the University of Dhaka and chairman of the department. Beginning in 1991, he started accepting appointments to public positions, as chairman of the Public Service Commission (1991 to 1993) and of the University Grants Commission (1995 to 1999). Mohammed Sohrab Hossain
Md Sohorab Hossain is a retired Bangladeshi Civil Servant and currently serving as the Chairperson of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission. He is a former Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Education. Early life Hossain was born in 1961 in Chatkhil Upazila, Noakhali District, East Pakistan, Pakistan. He completed his bachelor's degree and masters in Bengali language and literature from the University of Dhaka. Muhammed Sadique (born 1955) is a Bangladeshi writer and public official. He served as 13th chairman of Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC). He was awarded Bangla Academy Literary Award in 2017 for his contributions to Bengali poetry. Biography Sadique was born in September 1955 at Dharargaon village of Sunamganj District. Ikram Ahmed is retired civil servant and former chairperson of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission. Early life Ahmed was born on 14 April 1951. Career In 2008, Ahmed was the Divisional Commissioner of Dhaka Division. He is the Convener of the Families United against Road Accident. Saadat Husain
Sadat Hussain (24 November 1946 – 22 April 2020) was a Bangladeshi bureaucrat and the 9th chairman of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission, one of the country's leading constitutional bodies. He also served as the Chief of the Bangladesh Civil Service and as the Cabinet Secretary to the Government of Bangladesh. Early life Sadat Hussain was born on 24 November 1946 in the Noakhali district. He studied economics at Dhaka University. He earned a PhD in economics from Boston University in the United States. Faiz Uddin Ahmed (born 1 June 1924) is a former civil servant, originally at the provincial level in East Pakistan, later in Bangladesh. Mohiuddin Ahmed (bureaucrat)
Mohiuddin Ahmed (died 28 January 2010) was a Bangladesh Army officer who was convicted of the Assassination of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. On 28 January 2010, Ahmed was hanged along with Sultan Shahriar Rashid Khan, A.K.M. Mohiuddin Ahmed, Syed Farooq Rahman, and Mohammad Bazlul Huda in Old Dhaka Central Jail. Career Ahmed was in the 2nd Field Artillery under the command of Major Khandaker Abdur Rashid. Rashid criticised the policies of President Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The day before the coup, he directed the officers under his command to prepare for the coup including ordering them to carry personal firearms. The BCS Examination ( bn, বিসিএস পরীক্ষা) is a nationwide competitive examination in Bangladesh conducted by the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC) for recruitment to the various Bangladesh Civil Service cadres, including BCS (Admin), BCS (Audit & Accounts), BCS (Taxation), BCS (Customs and Excise), BCS (Foreign Affairs), and BCS (Police) among others.
