Bangladesh National Film Award For Best Film
The Bangladesh National Award for Best Film (officially National Award Best Film bn, জাতীয় চলচ্চিত্র পুরস্কার শ্রেষ্ঠ চলচ্চিত্র) is one of the categories in the National Film Awards presented annually by the Department of Films and Publications, the organisation set up by Ministry of Information in Bangladesh. It is the highest award for films in Bangladesh. This award goes to the producers of the film and is the only category in a year. The award comprises a medal, a certificate, and a cash prize of . Cinema Of Bangladesh
The Bangladeshi Cinema, better known as Dhallywood ( bn, ঢালিউড), is the Bengali-language film industry based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It has often been a significant film industry since the early 1970s. The dominant style of Bangladeshi cinema is melodramatic cinema, which developed from 1947 to 1990 and characterizes most films to this day. Cinema was introduced in Bangladesh in 1898 by the Bradford Bioscope Company, credited to have arranged the first film release in Bangladesh. ''Shuvoda'' ( bn, শুভদা) is a 1986 Bangladeshi Bengali language film directed by Chashi Nazrul Islam from Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's novel of the same name. Plot Haran (Golam Mustafa) family consists of his wife Shuvoda ( Anwara), two daughters - Lolona and Chholona, one son Madhab, and a widowed sister. Lolona becomes widowed after one month of marriage and is sent back to her father's home. Haran is addicted to gambling and lives from hand to mouth. The 2nd Bangladesh National Film Awards ( bn, জাতীয় চলচ্চিত্র পুরস্কার) presented by Ministry of Information to felicitate the best of Bangladeshi Cinema censored in the year 1976. It was the second ceremony of National Film Awards. Bangladesh Film Censor Board is a regulatory agency that is responsible for the censorship of movies and is located in Dhaka, Bangladesh. History The censor board was set up in 1977 following the framing of Bangladesh Censorship of Film Rules. The agency is responsible for the censorship of locally produced movies, foreign imports and acts as the registration of film clubs in Bangladesh. Censorship in Bangladesh refers to the government censorship of the press and infringement of freedom of speech. Article 39 of the constitution of Bangladesh protects free speech. Tanvir Mokammel (born 8 March 1955) is a Bangladeshi filmmaker and writer. He is the recipient of Ekushey Padak in 2017. He won Bangladesh National Film Awards total ten times for the films ''Nodir Naam Modhumoti'' (1995), '' Chitra Nodir Pare'' (1999) and '' Lalsalu'' (2001). He is the current director of Bangladesh Film Institute in Dhaka. Early life and education Tanvir Mokammel grew up in Khulna. Amjad Hossain (14 August 1942 – 14 December 2018) was a Bangladeshi film director, actor, scriptwriter and lyricist. He won the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Director twice, for the films ''Golapi Ekhon Traine'' (1978) and '' Bhat De'' (1984). He also won Bangla Academy Literary Award in 2004 and Ekushey Padak in 1992. Career Hossain was born in Jamalpur on 14 August 1942. Sheikh Niamat Ali (30 April 1940 – 24 November 2003) was a Bangladeshi film director. He won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Director in 1979, 1985 and 1995 for all the three feature films he ever made - ''Surja Dighal Bari'', ''Dahan'' and ''Anyajiban'' respectively. Career In 1977, Ali and his co-director Masihuddin Shaker started shooting the film ''Surja Dighal Bari''. The film was based on a novel by Abu Ishaque about the rural people in the 1950s. ''Oggatonama'' ( bn, অজ্ঞাতনামা ) is a 2016 Bangladeshi drama film directed and written by Tauquir Ahmed. It was selected as the Bangladeshi entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 89th Academy Awards, but it was not nominated.
