Bangalore Military School
Rashtriya Military School Bangalore (Rashtriya Military School Bangalore or King George Royal Indian Military College) is a military boarding school in Bangalore, Karnataka, India. It was established on 1 August 1946 and is one of the only five RMS (Rashtriya Military School which were formerly called Royal Indian Military Schools) of its kind in India; the other four being Chail Military School established in 1922, Ajmer Military School in 1930, Belgaum Military School in 1945, and Dholpur Military School in 1962. The cadets enrolled in these schools are known as Georgians, after their founder father King George VI. RIMC (established in 1922), 5 RIMs and various Sainik Schools contribute 30% to 40% to various training academies of the Armed Forces. Captain (armed forces), Captain Gurbachan Singh Salaria, Param Vir Chakra, PVC (29 November 1935 – 5 December 1961) was an Indian Indian Army, Army officer and member of a United Nations peacekeeping force. He was the first NDA alumnus and is the only UN Peacekeeper to be awarded a Param Vir Chakra (PVC), India's highest wartime military decoration. Colonel (Dr.) Divakaran Padma Kumar (DPK) Pillay, SC (born 12 August 1967) is a former Indian Army officer. He was severely wounded in counter insurgency operations in Longdi Pabram village, a hamlet in the remote Tamenglong district of Manipur in India's northeast, where he saved the lives of 2 children - a boy named Dingamang Pamei and a girl named Masebiliu Pamei, despite his injuries. The National Defence Academy (NDA) is the joint defence service training institute of the Indian Armed Forces, where cadets of the three services i.e. the Indian Army, the Indian Navy and the Indian Air Force train together before they go on to respective service academy for further pre-commission training. The NDA is located in Khadakwasla, Pune, Maharashtra. It is the first tri-service academy in the world. The alumni of NDA include 3 Param Vir Chakra recipients and 12 Ashoka Chakra recipients. NDA has also produced 27 service Chiefs of Staff till date. The current Chiefs of Staff of the Army, the Navy and the Air Force are all NDA alumni from the same course.
