Balthazar Lange
Balthazar Conrad Lange (25 March 1854 - 13 September 1937) was a Norwegian architect. Personal life He was born in Asker as a son of customs treasurer and lieutenant colonel Christopher Andreas Lange (1808–1888) and Anne Birgithe Falsen. He was a maternal grandson of founding father Christian Magnus Falsen, grandnephew of Alexander Lange, first cousin of naval officer Christian Magnus Falsen and Conrad Falsen and first cousin once removed of Christian Christoph Andreas Lange and Jacob Otto Lange. In 1881 in Arendal he married Elise Kløcker (1857–1934). The couple had one daughter and five sons, although not all survived past infancy. His sister Elisabeth Lange married Alfred Sinding-Larsen and had the children Christian Magnus Falsen Sinding-Larsen, Birger Fredrik Sinding-Larsen, Holger Sinding-Larsen and Kristofer Sinding-Larsen. Kristofer Sinding-Larsen. Kristofer Andreas Lange Sinding-Larsen (3 April 1873 – 26 December 1948) was a Norwegian painter. Personal life He was born in Kristiania as a son of jurist and writer Alfred Sinding-Larsen (1839–1911) and Elisabeth Lange (1841–1887). He was a brother of physician Christian Magnus Sinding-Larsen, architect Holger Sinding-Larsen and officer Birger Fredrik Sinding-Larsen, and also a grandnephew of mining engineer Matthias Wilhelm Sinding, second cousin of painter Sigmund Sinding, maternal great-grandson of founding father Christian Magnus Falsen and nephew of Balthazar Lange. Dragestil
Dragestil ("Dragon Style") is a style of design and architecture that originated in Norway and was widely used principally between 1880 and 1910. It is a variant of the more embracing National Romantic style and an expression of Romantic nationalism. History The foremost sources of inspiration for the Dragestil style were the Viking and medieval art and architecture of Scandinavia. It had roots in the preservation of stave churches and the recent excavation of historic relics such as the Tune, Gokstad and Oseberg ships. Uranienborg Church
Uranienborg church is a parish church in Oslo, Norway. The church is situated in the neighborhood of Uranienborg, next to Uranienborg Park behind the Royal Palace. Both the church and Uranienborg school just below were constructed in 1886. The church was built of brick and was the most expensive of all churches erected within Christiania (now Oslo) at this time. The church was designed by Balthazar Lange who was city architect in Christiania from 1898 to 1920. It was consecrated on 22 December 1886. The building is given a Gothic feel and was decorated with stained glass by the artist Emanuel Vigeland. The church was initially decorated with frescoes by Enevold Thømt, which have since been lost. Sandefjord Station ( no, Sandefjord stasjon) is a railway station on the Vestfold Line in Sandefjord, Norway. The station is served with regional trains operated by Vy. The station opened as part of the Vestfold Line in 1881. Norsk Spisevognselskap took over operations of the restaurant on 1 January 1940. The first train came to Sandefjord in 1881, on its way to neighboring Larvik. In the 1950s, the steam locomotive was replaced by the less noisy electric run train. Sandefjord Station originally had three railway tracks when established in 1881. It also had one track which led through town and down to the harbor, known as ''Havesporet''. It also had a side-track which led to ''National Industri'', later known as ''Corneliussen mekaniske verksted''. Goods from industry made up a large amount of the station's original traffic. Skoppum Station
Skoppum Station ( no, Skoppum stasjon) is a railway station on the Vestfold Line in the village of Skoppum, in Horten, Norway. Situated from Oslo Central Station, it serves an hourly regional service operated by Vy. The station has two platforms and is itself located on an island platform, giving Skoppum a keilbahnhof design. The station building was designed by Balthazar Lange in Swiss chalet style. The station opened on 7 December 1881 and served as an interchange station between the Vestfold Line and the Horten Line. The latter was closed for passenger traffic in 1967 and demolished in 2009. Skoppum remains the only station serving Horten, despite being west of the town center. The current station is listed as a heritage site, but will be abandoned in about 2024 when a new section of high-speed rail is built.
