Balendra Shah
Balendra Shah ( ne, बालेन्द्र शाह), popularly known as Balen Shah or simply Balen, is a Nepalese rapper, structural engineer and politician. He is currently serving as the 15th mayor of Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. Shah has been a popular figure in Nepalese hip-hop since the early 2010s. Shah announced his candidacy as an independent and was elected at the 2022 local election, defeating Nepali Congress candidate Sirjana Singh and CPN (UML) candidate Keshav Sthapit. He is the first mayor of Kathmandu to be elected as an independent candidate. Early life and education Shah was born on 27 April 1990 in Naradevi, Kathmandu. He is the youngest son of Ram Narayan Shah, an Ayurvedic practitioner, and his wife Dhruvadevi Shah. Mayor Of Kathmandu
The mayor of Kathmandu is the head of the municipal executive of Kathmandu Metropolitan City. The officeholder is elected for a five-year term and limited to serving no more than two terms. The role was first created in 1932 during the Rana regime. The current mayor is Balendra Shah, who was elected in the 2022 election and took office on 30 May 2022. The position has been held by fifteen people in a permanent capacity since its creation. Dhanusha District, (; ), a part of Madhesh Province, is one of the seventy-seven districts of Nepal. It is situated in the Outer Terai. Ayurveda () is an alternative medicine system with historical roots in the Indian subcontinent. The theory and practice of Ayurveda is pseudoscientific. Keshav Sthapit
Keshav Sthapit is a former mayor of Kathmandu metropolitan city. He also held the position of minister in Bagmati Pradesh and is a former member of the province's Assembly. Keshav Sthapit was elected as the mayor of Kathmandu in 1997. After the royal takeover in 2005, he was appointed the Mayor of Kathmandu by King. In year 2005 he was top finalist for world best mayor. After the return of democracy, he was appointed as a Commissioner of Kathmandu Valley Development Authority after joining Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) but was removed from the post after only nine months.
