Baiersbronn
Baiersbronn is a Municipalities of Germany, municipality and a village in the district of Freudenstadt (district), Freudenstadt in Baden-Württemberg in southern Germany. It is situated in the Black Forest on the Murg (Northern Black Forest), Murg river. Nearby is the mountain of Rinkenkopf (759.6 m) with its hillfort, the Rinkenwall. Administratively, Baiersbronn consists of the following nine villages: * Baiersbronn * Friedrichstal * Huzenbach * Klosterreichenbach * Mitteltal * Obertal * Röt-Schönegründ * Schönmünzach-Schwarzenberg * Tonbach In its current form, Baiersbronn was created in the 1960s and 1970s by joining five municipalities. Murg (Northern Black Forest)
The Murg is an 80.2-kilometre-long river (including its headstream, the ''Rechtmurg'') and a right tributary of the Rhine in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It flows through the Northern Black Forest into the Upper Rhine Plain, crossing the counties of Landkreis Freudenstadt, Freudenstadt and Landkreis Rastatt, Rastatt. Geography Course The Murg valley is one of the largest and deepest valleys in the Black Forest (up to over 700 metres deep) and generally runs in a northerly direction. It separates the precipitation-rich main crest of the Northern Black Forest, including the Hornisgrinde (1,164 m), to the west, from the densely forested bunter sandstone plateaux in the east. The Murg originates from 2 large headstreams in the western part of the municipality of Baiersbronn. Rinkenwall
The Rinkenwall or Rinkenmauer is a circular rampart fortification at the southeastern tip of the Rinkenkopf mountain above the Murg valley near the village of Baiersbronn in the county of Freudenstadt in the south German state of Baden-Württemberg. The hillfort could have been a fortification built to protect Reichenbach Abbey, which was built in the late 11th century and which is named as its owner. History The fortification is first recorded around 1100 in the gift register at Reichenbach Abbey. Here an estate is referred to as ''in monte qui Rincga vocatur''. The word ''Rincga'' means roughly "ring-shaped", probably referring to the circular rampart (''Ringwall''). The donation of holdings on the Rinkenberg clearly suggests that the fortification at that time had no longer any military or administrative function. Black Forest
The Black Forest (german: Schwarzwald ) is a large forested mountain range in the state of Baden-Württemberg in southwest Germany, bounded by the Rhine Valley to the west and south and close to the borders with France and Switzerland. It is the source of the Danube and Neckar rivers. Its highest peak is the Feldberg with an elevation of above sea level. Rinkenkopf
The Rinkenkopf is a mountain, 760 m high, on the territory of Baiersbronn in the Northern Black Forest. The wooded mountain ridge is bounded in the south by the Murg valley and in the northeast by the valley of the Tonbach. To the northwest a roughly 50-metre-deep saddle (the ''Sattelei'') separates it from the foothills of the Grindenschwarzwald. On the mountain are the Rinkenwall (''Rinkenmauer''), Rinken Tower (''Rinkenturm'') and two transmission towers. Several hiking trails lead there, including the Murgleiter and der Genießerpfad to the Sattelei Hut. Rinkenwall At the top of the mountain are the remains of a 115-metre-long and up to 40-metre-wide circular rampart. The date it was built and its purpose are unknown. Sankenbach Waterfalls
The Sankenbach Waterfalls (german: Sankenbach-Wasserfälle) are a cascade southwest of the village of Baiersbronn in the Black Forest in Germany. The Sankenbach flows over the waterfalls, dropping a total of 40 metres. Buhlbachsee
The Buhlbachsee is a tarn (lake) in the northern Black Forest on the southwestern edge of the parish of Baiersbronn in the county of Freudenstadt in Baden-Württemberg. Since 1 January 2014 it has been part of the Black Forest National Park. The tarn lies around 4.5 kilometres southeast of the summit of the Schliffkopf in the Buhlbach valley and less than half a kilometre northeast of the Black Forest High Road. The lake can be reached on foot over various paths including from Kniebis, Baiersbronn-Obertal or from the Black Forest High Road. The tarn is about 160 metres wide and almost circular in shape. Only in the northeast, where the Buhlbach stream, which enters from the southwest, leaves the lake again is there a "nose" that gives it a length of about 200 metres. Emil Georg Von Stauß
Emil Georg von Stauss (often rendered Emil Georg von Stauß, 6 October 1877 in Baiersbronn – 11 December 1942 in Berlin) was a German banker who served as Director-General of the board of the Deutsche Bank. Business career As well as his banking interests von Stauss was also noted for his expertise in the petroleum industry, serving on the board of Deutsche Petroleum from 1920. Stefan Wisniewski (born 8 April 1953) is a former member of the Red Army Faction (RAF). Early life Wisniewski was born in 1953 in Klosterreichenbach, a part of Baiersbronn, Baden-Württemberg, in the Black Forest.
