Bahrain–Japan Relations
Historic and current bilateral relationship exist between Bahrain and Japan. Diplomatic relations were first established in 1972, and since then they have had increasing economic, cultural, and military cooperation, with Japan becoming one of the major trading partners of Bahrain. Several high-level official visits have taken place, including by King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to Japan in 2012, Crown Prince Salman in 2013, and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to Bahrain in 2013, with the governments of both countries expressing their intent to continue to increase their bilateral relations. Japan recognized the kingdom in August 1971, and has maintained an embassy in Manama since 1988, while Bahrain has had an embassy in Tokyo since 2005. Bilateralism
Bilateralism is the conduct of political, economic, or cultural relations between two sovereign states. It is in contrast to unilateralism or multilateralism, which is activity by a single state or jointly by multiple states, respectively. When states recognize one another as sovereign states and agree to diplomatic relations, they create a bilateral relationship. States with bilateral ties will exchange diplomatic agents such as ambassadors to facilitate dialogues and cooperations. Economic agreements, such as free trade agreements (FTA) or foreign direct investment (FDI), signed by two states, are a common example of bilateralism. Since most economic agreements are signed according to the specific characteristics of the contracting countries to give preferential treatment to each other, not a generalized principle but a situational differentiation is needed. United States Fifth Fleet
The Fifth Fleet is a numbered fleet of the United States Navy. It has been responsible for naval forces in the Persian Gulf, Red Sea, Arabian Sea, and parts of the Indian Ocean since 1995 after a 48-year hiatus. It shares a commander and headquarters with U.S. Naval Forces Central Command (''NAVCENT'') in Bahrain. Fifth Fleet/NAVCENT is a component command of, and reports to, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM). King Of Bahrain
The King of the Kingdom of Bahrain ( ar, ملك مملكة البحرين) is the monarch and head of state of Bahrain. The House of Khalifa has been the ruling family since 1783. Between 1783 and 1971, the Bahraini monarch held the title of hakim, and, from 1971 until 2002, the title of emir. On 14 February 2002, the emir of Bahrain, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, declared Bahrain a kingdom and proclaimed himself the first king. Rashid Bin Abdullah Al Khalifa
Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa (born 1954) is a member of the House of Khalifa, Bahraini royal family and since 2004 has been the Ministry of Interior (Bahrain), minister of interior of Bahrain. Family Rashid is the only son of Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, son of Ahmad bin Muhammad Al Khalifa with Saeda, son of Muhammad bin Isa Al Khalifa Al Haj, son of Isa ibn Ali Al Khalifa ruler of Bahrain. Khalifa Al Dhahrani
Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Dhahrani ( ar, خليفة بن أحمد الظهراني, born 1942) is a Bahraini politician, who served as Speaker of the Council of Representatives of Bahrain. Early life Khalifa Al Dhahrani was born in the town of Riffa, in central Bahrain, in 1942. He graduated from Bahrain Petroleum Company's Institute of Training and Occupational Development. Prior to his political career, he was a prominent businessman in the Bahraini community. Political career Al Dhahrani's political career began when he ran for and was elected as a member of Bahrain's first National Assembly in 1973. Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa (born 24 April 1960) is a Bahraini diplomat who served as Bahrain's Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2005 until January 2020. Khalid became only the second foreign minister in Bahrain's history after replacing Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa who then became Bahrain's deputy prime minister. Sheikh Mohammad bin Mubarak Al Khalifa (born 1935) is a Bahraini politician and a member of the Bahrain's royal family. Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa
Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa ( ar, خليفة بن سلمان آل خليفة) (24 November 1935 – 11 November 2020) was a Bahraini royal and politician who served as the Prime Minister of Bahrain from 10 January 1970 until his death in 2020. He took office over a year before Bahrain's independence on 15 August 1971. He was the longest-serving prime minister in the world. The Bahrain News Agency (BNA) is the state news agency of Bahrain. History and profile The BNA was established in 1976 with the name of the Gulf News Agency. In 2001 it was renamed as the Bahrain News Agency. The agency is run under the Ministry of Information Affairs. It is a member of the Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA).
