Baeoentedon Balios
''Baeoentedon balios'', the balios wasp, is a species of chalcid wasp which was first described from China in 2014. It is a parasitoid of whiteflies of the family Aleyrodidae. Description ''Baeoentedon balios'' adults are around 0.9 mm in length, the head and thorax are metallic blue-black in colour, while the abdomen is pale yellow. The antennae have a largely white scape with a pale pedicel and its legs are coloured pale yellow. The hyaline forewing has an apical transverse brown cloud. Distribution ''Baeoentedon balios'' was described in 2014 from specimens taken from Xiamen in Fujian, in December 2014 it was discovered in Homestead, Florida, the first record of the genus ''Baeoentedon'' in the New World. A survey in 2015 recorded balios wasps in four counties of southern Florida, Broward, Miami-Dade, Monroe, and Palm Beach. Baeoentedon Bouceki
''Baeoentedon bouceki'' is a species of wasp, one of the first three members of the genus ''Baeoentedon'' to be discovered in China. It is less than a millimetre in length, with a head slightly wider than the middle portion of the body. Only one specimen has been studied, collected from Hainan in 1983. As that specimen is female, the appearance of males is unknown. Taxonomy The genus that ''Baeoentedon bouceki'' belongs to, ''Baeoentedon'', was erected in 1915 by Alexandre Arsène Girault. It contained a single species, '' B. peculicornis'', known only from a single female from Queensland, Australia. No further biological information or additional species were identified until 2014, when Zhu-Hong Wang, Jian Huang, and Andrew Polaszek published descriptions of three new Chinese species, including ''B. bouceki''. Alexandre Arsène Girault ( ; 9 January 1884 – 2 May 1941) was an American entomologist specializing in the study of chalcid wasps. An eccentric and controversial figure, Girault was also a prolific and dedicated entomologist. He published more than 325 papers and described over 3000 new taxa from Australia. Biography Alexandre Arsène Girault was born in Annapolis, Maryland, on January 9, 1884, to Joseph Bonaparte Girault and Elizabeth Frances Girault (née Goodwin). He is named after his grandfather, Arsène Napoleon Alexandre Girault de Saint Fargeau, one of the founding faculty of the US Naval Academy. Girault earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1903. Aleyrodidae
Whiteflies are Hemipterans that typically feed on the undersides of plant leaves. They comprise the family Aleyrodidae, the only family in the superfamily Aleyrodoidea. More than 1550 species have been described. Description and taxonomy The Aleyrodidae are a family in the suborder Sternorrhyncha and at present comprise the entire superfamily Aleyrodoidea, related to the superfamily Psylloidea.
