Baby Devi also known as Baby Mahto is an Indian politician, serving as a Minister of Prohibition and Excise in Second Hemant Soren Ministry since July 4, 2023. She is a Member of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha. She is wife of Former Minister Jagarnath Mahto. Career In the by-election conducted in the Dumri Assembly constituency in 2023, she defeated Yashoda Devi, a representative of the All Jharkhand Students' Union of National Democratic Alliance with over 17,000 votes to become member of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly. The Government of Jharkhand also known as the State Government of Jharkhand, or locally as State Government, is the supreme governing authority of the Indian state of Jharkhand and its 24 districts. It consists of an executive, led by the Governor of Jharkhand, a judiciary and a legislative branch. Like other states of India, the head of state of Jharkhand is the Governor, appointed by the President of India on the advice of the central government. The post of governor is largely ceremonial. Jagarnath Mahto
Jagannath Mahto (1 January 1967 – 6 April 2023) popularly known as "Tiger Mahto" or "Tiger Jagarnath Da" was an Indian politician and cabinet minister from Jharkhand. He represented the Dumri (Vidhan Sabha constituency), Dumri Vidhan Sabha constituency as a Jharkhand Mukti Morcha MLA. Dumri Assembly seat has been a stronghold of JMM with Jagarnath Mahto representing its seat since 2000. In the 2019 Assembly elections, he received 71,128 votes, defeating his closest opponent Yashoda Devi, who contested on a AJSU ticket. Mahto tested positive for COVID-19 in 2020. He was taken to Chennai for treatment where remained in a coma for a long time. He underwent a lung transplant, before returning to the state after long nine months of continuous treatment. Hemant Soren (born 10 August 1975) is an Indian politician from Jharkhand, who is currently the Chief Minister of Jharkhand. Previously, he had also served as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand from July 2013 to December 2014. He is also the president of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, a political party in Jharkhand. He represents Barhait constituency in the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly. Jharkhand Mukti Morcha ( lit. ''Jharkhand Liberation Front''; JMM) is a State political party in the Indian state of Jharkhand which was founded by Binod Bihari Mahato.
