Berkshire Hathaway Assurance
Berkshire Hathaway Assurance is a bond insurance company created by Berkshire Hathaway, Inc. in December 2007. History Berkshire created this government bond insurance company in December 2007 to insure municipal and state bonds. These type bonds are issued by local governments to finance public works projects such as schools, hospitals, roads, and sewer systems. Berkshire is not guaranteeing BHA, thus opening itself to competition from any number of investors who could easily assemble the $5 billion capital. BHA began insurance operations in New York, with plans to move on to California, Puerto Rico, Texas, Illinois, and Florida. On February 12, 2008, Warren Buffett announced a plan to add up to $5 billion in capital to BHA to enable it to provide reinsurance Reinsurance is insurance that an insurance company purchases from another insurance company to insulate itself (at least in part) from the risk of a major claims event. With reinsurance, the company passes on ("cede ...

Beta Hydroxy Acid
A beta hydroxy acid or β-hydroxy acid (BHA) is an organic compound that contains a carboxylic acid functional group and hydroxy functional group separated by ''two'' carbon atoms. They are closely related to alpha hydroxy acids, in which the two functional groups are separated by ''one'' carbon atom. In cosmetics, the term ''beta hydroxy acid'' refers specifically to salicylic acid, which is used in some "anti-aging" creams and acne treatments. It is used to combat inflammation. Upon dehydration, beta-hydroxy acids yield an alpha-beta unsaturated acid. Acidic properties Compared to non-hydroxylated carboxylic acids, this group of acids is stronger, although less strong than the alpha hydroxy acids. Due to the larger distance, the intramolecular hydrogen bridge is less easily formed compared to the alpha hydroxy acids. The table summarizes some values on the propionic series. {, class="wikitable" ! Name ! p''K''a , - , Propanoic acid , , 4.87Handbook of Chemistry an ...

Area Code 242
Area code 242 is the telephone area code in the North American Numbering Plan (NANP) for The Bahamas. Area code 242 translates to the letter sequence ''BHA'' on an alpha-numeric keypad. The numbering plan area (NPA) was created in a split of area code 809, which was originally assigned to the Bahamas and many of the Caribbean islands. A permissive dialing period was in effect from October 1, 1996, to March 31, 1997. When in The Bahamas, only the seven-digit number is required for local calls, but to call the Bahamas from other countries within the North American Numbering Plan, e.g., the United States, and Canada, the local number is prefixed with ''1'' and ''242''. See also * List of NANP area codes *Area codes in the Caribbean The integration of the Caribbean telephone networks into the North American Numbering Plan (NANP) began with the assignment of area codes in the Caribbean in 1958, when area code 809 was designated for Bermuda and any other potential participant isl ... ...

Butylated Hydroxyanisole
Butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) is a synthetic, waxy, solid petrochemical. Its antioxidant properties have caused it to be widely used as a preservative in food, food packaging, animal feed, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, rubber, and petroleum products. BHA has been used in food since around 1947. Chemistry BHA consists of a mixture of two isomeric organic compounds, 2-''tert''-butyl-4-hydroxyanisole and 3-''tert''-butyl-4-hydroxyanisole. It is prepared from 4-methoxyphenol and isobutylene. The conjugated aromatic ring of BHA is able to stabilize free radicals, sequestering them. By acting as free radical scavengers, further free radical reactions are prevented. Applications Since 1947, BHA has been added to edible fats and fat-containing foods for its antioxidant properties as it prevents rancidification of food which creates objectionable odors. It has been assigned the E number E320. It is often combined with a similar chemical, butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT). BHA also is commo ...

Bottom Hole Assembly
A bottom hole assembly (BHA) is a component of a drilling rig. It is the lowest part of the drill string, extending from the bit to the drill pipe. The assembly can consist of drill collars, subs such as stabilisers, reamers, shocks, hole-openers, and the bit sub and bit. The BHA design is based upon the requirements of having enough weight transfer to the bit (WOB) to be able to drill and achieve a sufficient Rate of Penetration (ROP), giving the Driller or Directional Driller directional control to drill as per the planned trajectory and to also include whatever Logging While Drilling (LWD) / Measurement While Drilling (MWD) tools for formation evaluation. As such BHA design can vary greatly from simple vertical wells with little or no LWD requirements to complex directional wells which must run multi-combo LWD suites. Prior to running a BHA most oilfield service providers have software to model the BHA behaviour such as the maximum WOB achievable, the directional tendencies ...
