Au Yeung Wai Sum
Catherine Au Yeung Wai-sum (; born 16 October 1984) is a sabre fencer from Hong Kong, China. Au Yeung took up fencing with some of her friends. She joined the national team in 2004 after being noticed by a national coach at an inter-school competition. She won a team silver medal at the 2005 Asian Championships and a team bronze medal at the 2006 Asian Games. She won a silver medal in the 2010 Pattaya City World Cup. In the 2011 Summer Universiade she reached the semifinals after defeating Romania's Mihaela Bulică, then lost to another Romanian, Bianca Pascu, and came away with a bronze medal. Sabre (fencing)
The sabre (US English: ''saber'', both pronounced ) is one of the three disciplines of modern fencing. The sabre weapon is for thrusting and cutting with both the cutting edge and the back of the blade (unlike other modern fencing weapons, the épée and foil, where the methods of making a hit are scored using only the point of the blade). Bianca Pascu
Bianca Alexandru Pascu (born 13 June 1988) is a Romanian sabre fencer. She represented Romania at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, where she competed in the women's individual sabre event. Career Pascu's first sport was handball. She took to fencing at age 10 after a fencing coach from CSM Brașov went to her school and noticed the sport would suit her well. In 2007, she transferred to CS Dinamo Bucharest, where she was trained by Alexandru Chiculiță. In 2008, Pascu won the silver medal both in the individual and the team events of the Junior European Championships in Ghent. She also earned silver at the 2011 Summer Universiade in Shenzhen, after being defeated in the final by Ukraine's Olha Kharlan. Mihaela Bulică
Mihaela Bulică (born 10 February 1990) is a Romanian sabre fencer. Career Bulică took up fencing when she was eight under the coaching of Marin Mihăiță at CSS Slobozia. She won the bronze medal at the 2008 U23 European Championships in Monza, then a silver medal at the 2009 Junior European Championships in Odense and another silver at the 2012 U23 European Championships in Bratislava. She joined the senior national team in 2007. Their best result was a 10th place at the 2009 World Fencing Championships in Antalya. Fencing is a group of three related combat sports. The three disciplines in modern fencing are the foil, the épée, and the sabre (also ''saber''); winning points are made through the weapon's contact with an opponent.
