The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) is a public research university located in Hung Hom, Hong Kong near Hung Hom station. The University is one of the eight government-funded degree-granting tertiary institutions in Hong Kong. Founded in 1937 as the first Government Trade School, it is the first institution to provide technical education in Hong Kong. In 1994, the Legislative Council of Hong Kong passed a bill which granted the former Hong Kong Polytechnic official university status. Tang Shiu Kin Victoria Government Secondary School
Tang Shiu Kin Victoria Government Secondary School (鄧肇堅維多利亞官立中學) was founded by the Hong Kong Government in 1933. Named the Junior Technical School (初級工業學校) initially, and then the Victoria Technical School (維多利亞工業學校) since the 1950s, it is the first government-founded technical college in Hong Kong.
