Associação Atlética República, República da Aclimação or simply República is a football club based in Aclimação, São Paulo, Brazil. It disputed the APEA ( pt, Associação Paulista de Esportes Atléticos) championships since 1919, participating in the first division of the Campeonato Paulista in 1927, and for the FPF in 1933 and 1934. República also participated in the first match with night lighting that is recorded in history, against SE Linhas e Cabos (São Paulo Light Company employees' club), at Rua do Glicério, where 20 electric tram headlights were used to illuminate the playing field, on June 23, 1923. The club maintains its activities to these days, playing only as an amateur level. The Campeonato Paulista Série A1, commonly known as Campeonato Paulista, nicknamed Paulistão, is the top-flight professional association football, football league in the Brazilian States of Brazil, state of São Paulo (state), São Paulo. Run by the Federação Paulista de Futebol, FPF, the league is contested between 16 clubs and typically lasts from January to April. Aclimação
Aclimação is a prosperous neighborhood in the central region of the city of São Paulo, Brazil. It is located in the municipal district of Liberdade, in the Sé Subprefecture. History Despite its central location, Aclimação is one of the newer neighborhoods in downtown São Paulo, developed settled only in the 20th century. The neighborhood has grown up on a winding hilly triangular-shaped area of land known as the Sítio Tapanhoin, bounded on its three sides by the Caminho do Mar highway to the port of Santos and the Lavapés and Cambuci rivers. The land was purchased in 1892 by Carlos Botelho, a doctor born in Piracicaba and trained in Paris, who was anxious to pursue an ambition he had developed during his time in France to create a Brazilian equivalent of the " Jardin d’Acclimatation" in Paris, a place used for the acclimation of exotic species, with a research center for animal reproduction and hybridization and including a zoo among its various attractions. Campeonato Paulista Série A3 (also referred to as Paulistão A3 for short) is the third level of the São Paulo state professional football championship, one of the Brazilian state championships. The tournament has been known as Série A3 since the 1993-94 season. Structure The current format of the Paulistão A3 was introduced in 2018, after the number of teams was decreased from 20 to 16. Two teams are promoted to Série A2, and the bottom two teams are relegated to Campeonato Paulista Segunda Divisão. First stage Each of the 16 competitors play each other once in the first stage of the competition, for a total of 15 matches between mid-January and early-April.
