Campeonato Paulista Série A3
Campeonato Paulista Série A3 (also referred to as Paulistão A3 for short) is the third level of the São Paulo state professional football championship, one of the Brazilian state championships. The tournament has been known as Série A3 since the 1993-94 season. Structure The current format of the Paulistão A3 was introduced in 2018, after the number of teams was decreased from 20 to 16. Two teams are promoted to Série A2, and the bottom two teams are relegated to Campeonato Paulista Segunda Divisão. First stage Each of the 16 competitors play each other once in the first stage of the competition, for a total of 15 matches between mid-January and early-April. A win earns three points and a draw earns one point. Teams are ranked by total points, then by total wins and finally by goal difference, number of scored goals, lower number of yellow and red cards taken. Campeonato Paulista Série A2 is the second level of the São Paulo state professional football championship, one of the Brazilian state championships. This tournament is played by 16 teams, in which the two best teams are promoted to Série A1 and the two worst teams are relegated to Série A3. Associação Atlética República, República da Aclimação or simply República is a football club based in Aclimação, São Paulo, Brazil. It disputed the APEA ( pt, Associação Paulista de Esportes Atléticos) championships since 1919, participating in the first division of the Campeonato Paulista in 1927, and for the FPF in 1933 and 1934. República also participated in the first match with night lighting that is recorded in history, against SE Linhas e Cabos (São Paulo Light Company employees' club), at Rua do Glicério, where 20 electric tram headlights were used to illuminate the playing field, on June 23, 1923. Luzitano Futebol Clube, commonly known as Luzitano, was a Brazilian football club from São Paulo, São Paulo state. They competed in the Campeonato Paulista three times. History Luzitano Futebol Clube was founded January 1, 1920, by Portuguese expatriates living in Brás neighborhood, São Paulo city, hence the club's name. They won the Campeonato Paulista Série B, organized by the Associação Paulista de Esportes Atléticos (APEA) in 1929, and in 1935 they won promotion to the Campeonato Paulista after winning the Campeonato Paulista Série A2. Botafogo Sport Club, commonly known as Botafogo, is a Brazilian football club based in Salvador, Bahia state. They won the Campeonato Baiano seven times. History The club was founded on August 14, 1919. They won the Campeonato Baiano in 1919, 1922, 1923, 1926, 1930, 1935, and in 1938.
