Anjarakandy is a census town and grama panchayat in Kannur district of Kerala, India. Anjarakandy river is flowing through Anjarakandy town. History The village includes Anjarakandy Cinnamon Estate, established by the East India Company in 1767. The estate, reputed to be Asia's largest, and the associated processing plant are still operational. Visitors are permitted to view the process of preparing cinnamon spice and extraction of oil. The local king, Pazhassi Raja and the British East India Company waged war for control of the estate. Anjarakandi River
The Anjarakandi River is one of two major rivers that flows through the Kannur District of Kerala in India. The river originates from the slopes of the Western Ghats bordering Wayanad and Kannur districts. The 48 km long river flows in the western direction emptying into the Arabian Sea at Dharmadom. Course The Anjarakandy river originates in the slopes of the Western Ghats at the border of the Wayanad and Kannur districts. The river then flows through the hilly towns of Nedumpoyil, Kannavam, Cheruvanchery, Manatheri, Kandamkunnu, Chittaripparamba and Vengoor. Mattannur
Mattanur, also spelled Mattannur, is a town, municipality, and an aerotropolis in Kannur district, Kerala, India. Mattanur is about 27 km east of Kannur and Thalassery, two major towns of the district. Mattanur lies between Kannur, Thalassery, and Iritty. It is the intersection where Thalassery–Coorg Highway (popularly known as the TC Road) meets the Kannur–Mattanur Road.
