Angelo Arciglione
Angelo Arciglione (born in Acri, 1982) is an Italian pianist. He studied with Maria Tipo and Eliso Virsaladze at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole. He also graduated summa cum laude at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome. Praised by audiences and critics for his sensitive interpretations and refined touch, Arciglione came to international attention by winning major prizes at numerous international piano competitions, including the 2012 San Marino Competition, the 2012 San Antonio (Texas) Competition, the 2011 World Piano e-Competition of Santa Fe (New Mexico), the 2010 Hilton Head International Piano Competition, the 2010 Scriabin Competition in Grosseto, the 2010 Schumann Prize in Lamporecchio, the 2010 Porrino Competition in Cagliari, the 2008 Valencia International Piano Competition Prize Iturbi, the 2005 International Ettore Pozzoli Piano Competition. Giorgio Federico Ghedini
Giorgio Federico Ghedini (11 July 189225 March 1965) was an Italian composer. In addition to orchestral works, in 1949 he premiered a one-act opera based on the American novella ''Billy Budd'' by Herman Melville. Life Ghedini was born in Cuneo in 1892. He studied organ, piano and composition in Turin, then graduated in composition from the Bologna Conservatory under Marco Enrico Bossi in 1911. He worked as conductor for a certain time, then he gave up to devote himself to teaching. He worked as a teacher of composition in Turin (1918–1937), Parma (1937–1941), and finally Milan, where he directed the local Conservatory (1951–1962). Among his pupils, the most eminent were Marcello and Claudio Abbado, Luciano Berio, Guido Cantelli, Niccolò Castiglioni, Carlo Pinelli, and Fiorenzo Carpi. Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco (3 April 1895 – 16 March 1968) was an Italian composer, pianist and writer. He was known as one of the foremost guitar composers in the twentieth century with almost one hundred compositions for that instrument. In 1939 he immigrated to the United States and became a film composer for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer for some 200 Hollywood movies for the next fifteen years. He also wrote concertos for Jascha Heifetz and Gregor Piatigorsky. Biography Born in Florence, he was descended from a prominent banking family that had lived in Tuscany, specifically in Siena until the latter half of the 19th century, since the expulsion of Jews from Spain in 1492. Acri ( Calabrian: ) is a town of 19.949 inhabitants in the northern part of Calabria region in southern Italy. Since 17 September 2001 Acri has had the "status" of city. International Ettore Pozzoli Piano Competition
The International Ettore Pozzoli Piano Competition, for tradition and amount of prize, is one of the oldest and most prestigious piano competitions in the world, taking place in Seregno, Italy since 1959 and held every 2 years. The Story The contest was founded by Gina Gambini, widow of the Italian pianist, Maestro Ettore Pozzoli, wishing to honour the memory of her husband by giving musicians from all over the world an opportunity to show their artistic skills. Up to now, more than 1.500 pianists coming from all over the world have participated in the 25 editions of the competition that has taken place in the city in northern Italy.
