Andrew Northcote
Andrew Michael Northcote (born 12 April 1983) is a South African-born Italian cricketer. Northcote is a right-handed batsman who bowls right-arm off break, and who occasionally fields as a wicket-keeper. He was born at Cape Town, Cape Province, and was educated at Abbott's College, Western Cape. Career After playing club cricket in England and Ireland from 2004 to 2006. Northcote qualified to play for Italy though his Italian mother, with Northcote making his debut for Italy against Hong Kong in the 2007 World Cricket League Division Three which was held in Northern Territory, Australia. He played six matches during the tournament, scoring 91 runs at an average of 18.20, with a high score of 47. With the ball, he took 7 wickets at a bowling average of 19.00, with best figures of 3/26. Bowling Average
In cricket, a player's bowling average is the number of runs they have conceded per wicket taken. The lower the bowling average is, the better the bowler is performing. It is one of a number of statistics used to compare bowlers, commonly used alongside the economy rate and the strike rate to judge the overall performance of a bowler. When a bowler has taken only a small number of wickets, their bowling average can be artificially high or low, and unstable, with further wickets taken or runs conceded resulting in large changes to their bowling average. Due to this, qualification restrictions are generally applied when determining which players have the best bowling averages. First-class cricket, along with List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket, is one of the highest-standard forms of cricket. A first-class match is one of three or more days' scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams. In cricket, a century is a score of 100 or more runs in a single innings by a batsman. The term is also included in "century partnership" which occurs when two batsmen add 100 runs to the team total when they are batting together.
