Ancaster—Dundas—Flamborough—Westdale
Ancaster—Dundas—Flamborough—Westdale was a federal electoral district in Ontario, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 2004 until the electoral boundaries were redrawn for the 2015 election. The district included the western half of the amalgamated city of Hamilton but did not include any of the city centre. It did, however, include McMaster University, Redeemer University College and many of the neighbourhoods surrounding it. History The electoral district was created in 2003. 82.9% of the riding came from its predecessor riding, Ancaster—Dundas—Flamborough—Aldershot and 17.1% from Hamilton West. Conversely, Ancaster—Dundas—Flamborough—Aldershot was carved out of Hamilton—Wentworth in 1996. Hamilton—Wentworth was created in 1968 from parts of Wentworth and Hamilton South. David Sweet
David Sweet (born June 24, 1957) is a former Canadian politician who served as a Member of Parliament (MP) from 2006 to 2021. He represented the riding of Ancaster—Dundas—Flamborough—Westdale from 2006 to 2015 and, following the 2012 federal electoral district redistribution, he represented the riding of Flamborough—Glanbrook from 2015 to 2021. A member of the Conservative Party, he served as the Shadow Minister for International Rights and Religious Freedom from 2019 to 2020. Throughout his tenure, Sweet served as chair and vice chair for a number of committees. During the 42nd Canadian Parliament, he served as the chair of the Conservative Party's parliamentary national caucus. Hamilton West was a federal electoral district in Ontario, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1904 to 2004. History The federal riding was created when the old riding of Hamilton was split in 1903. In 1903, the city of Hamilton was divided into two electoral districts: Hamilton East and Hamilton West. Hamilton West consisted of wards 2, 3, 4, and 5 of the city. The boundaries expanded ever eastward as the population centre did, but it always included the neighbourhoods of Ainslie Wood, Westdale and downtown Hamilton. Halton was a federal electoral district in Ontario, Canada, represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1867 to 1988 before being abolished in an electoral district redistribution, and again from 1997 to 2015, when it was again abolished in another electoral district redistribution.
