The Alor Setar railway station is a Malaysian railway station located at and named after the state capital city of Alor Setar, Kedah. Jawi Alphabet
Jawi (; ace, Jawoë; Kelantan-Pattani: ''Yawi''; ) is a writing system used for writing several languages of Southeast Asia, such as Acehnese, Banjarese, Kerinci, Maguindanaon, Malay, Minangkabau, Tausūg, and Ternate. Jawi is based on the Arabic script, consisting of all of the original 31 Arabic letters, and six additional letters constructed to fit the phonemes native to Malay, and an additional phoneme used in foreign loanwords, but not found in Classical Arabic, which are ''ca'' ( ), ''nga'' ( ), ''pa'' ( ), ''ga'' ( ), ''va'' ( ), and ''nya'' ( ). Alor Setar ( Jawi: الور ستار, Kedahan: ''Loqstaq'') is the state capital of Kedah, Malaysia. It is the second-largest city in the state after Sungai Petani and one of the most-important cities on the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia. It is home to the third-tallest telecommunication tower in Malaysia, the Alor Setar Tower. Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) (Jawi: كريتاڤي تانه ملايو برحد) or Malayan Railways Limited is the main rail operator in Peninsular Malaysia. The railway system dates back to the British colonial era, when it was first built to transport tin. Previously known as the Federated Malay States Railways (FMSR) and the Malayan Railway Administration (MRA), Keretapi Tanah Melayu acquired its current name in 1962. A side platform (also known as a marginal platform or a single-face platform) is a platform positioned to the side of one or more railway tracks or guideways at a railway station, tram stop, or transitway. KTM ETS
The KTM ETS (commercially known as ETS, short for 'Electric Train Service') is an inter-city rail passenger service operated by Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM) using electric multiple-unit (EMU) trains. The KTM ETS is the second electric train service to be operated by the Malaysian railway company, after the KTM Komuter service, and the second inter-city rail service, after KTM Intercity. The ETS is the fastest metre-gauge train service in Malaysia and operates along the electrified and double-tracked stretch of the West Coast Line between and in Peninsular Malaysia, which was previously served by KTM Intercity. KTM Komuter Northern Sector
The ''KTM Komuter Northern Sector'' ( ms, KTM Komuter Sektor Utara) is one of the five KTM Komuter services run by Malaysian rail operator Keretapi Tanah Melayu. The service was introduced on 11 September 2015 following the completion of the Ipoh-Padang Besar Electrification and Double-Tracking Project in December 2014, which also saw the extension of the ETS service to Padang Besar from Ipoh. The Kedah State Art Gallery ( ms, Balai Seni Negeri Kedah) is an art gallery in Alor Setar, Kota Setar District, Kedah, Malaysia. History The construction of the building started on 21 January 1893 and finished in 1912 and was officially opened by Kedah Sultan Abdul Hamid Halim of Kedah as the high court building, the earliest modern government building in Alor Setar. By 1931, the high court had completed their relocation to a new building beside the Federal Building, the original building was repurposed to accommodate the Audit Department, State Treasury and British Advisory Office, and would later be used to house the Public Works Department and Sewerage and Drainage Department. The Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah Gallery ( ms, Galeri Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah) is a gallery in Alor Setar, Kedah, Malaysia showcasing the history and artifacts of Kedah Sultan Abdul Halim ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah. History The building was originally completed in November 1922 as the new High Court to assume the functions of its predecessor. The building would see long-term use as the High Court until June 2005, when it was relocated to a new courts complex at Suka Menanti Street. The building was later repurposed as a gallery in 2007 at the cost of RM16 million. Architecture The High Court building was originally designed by architect F. W. Wade with construction overseen by H. W. Fofden.
