Adam Gee (golfer)
Adam Gee (born 22 October 1980) is an English professional golfer. Amateur career Gee was born in Carshalton, England. He was a relative latecomer to golf, not attempting the game for the first time until the age of 15. Despite this, he earned a golf scholarship to the University of North Carolina Wilmington, but opted to take a role as a club assistant on his return as he doubted his ability to compete as a professional. Gee finished runner-up at the 2006 Amateur Championship. Professional career Gee eventually turned professional at the late age of 26, and began his career on the second-tier Challenge Tour. After four consistent seasons at this level, finishing between 40th and 65th every year, he came through the qualifying school at the end of 2010 to earn a position on the European Tour for 2011. Carshalton
Carshalton () is a town, with a historic village centre, in south London, England, within the London Borough of Sutton. It is situated south-southwest of Charing Cross, in the valley of the River Wandle, one of the sources of which is Carshalton Ponds in the middle of the village. Prior to the creation of Greater London in 1965, Carshalton was in the administrative county of Surrey. Carshalton consists of a number of neighbourhoods. The main focal point, Carshalton Village, is visually scenic and picturesque. At its centre it has two adjoining ponds, which are overlooked by the Grade II listed All Saints Church on the south side and the Victorian Grove Park on the north side. Berkshire Trophy
The Berkshire Trophy is the amateur stroke play golf championship played at The Berkshire Golf Club in England. It has been played annually since 1946. The format is 72 hole stroke play contested over two days. Both the Blue and Red courses are used on the Saturday with the leading 40 scores and ties going through to play two further rounds on the Red course on the Sunday. If two or more players are tied after 72 holes they share the trophy; there is no playoff. Qualifying School
In professional golf, the term qualifying school is used for the annual qualifying tournaments for leading golf tours such as the U.S.-based PGA and LPGA Tours and the European Tour. A fixed number of players in the event win membership of the tour for the following season, otherwise known as a "tour card", meaning that they can play in most of the tour's events without having to qualify. They join the leaders on the previous year's money list/order of merit and certain other exempt players as members of the tour. Getting through the qualifying school of an elite tour is very competitive and most professional golfers never achieve it. There can be up to four stages to negotiate, each of them like a regular golf tournament with only a small number of players going on to the next stage.
