AWS Shopper
The AWS Shopper ''(A.W.S = Automobilwerk Walter Schätzle)'' was a German Automobile manufactured in Berlin (Germany) from 1973 to 1974. The first car was shown in 1970 and a few hand-built cars were made, but series production began in 1973. 1700 were made. History The AWS Shopper was designed by Walter Schätzle in 1970, an erstwhile Borgward dealer. The factory was located in West Berlin, in Rudow. The company first started to manufacture the car in 1973. While the brand's marketing was strong, the demand for this car was low during the 1970s. The company ceased manufacture in 1974. Design The AWS Shopper's internal design was unique, the frame was made with square steel tubes connected by special angular brackets, and the shell of the car was made from plasticized sheet metal panels. Borgward
The former Borgward car manufacturing company, based in Bremen, Germany, was founded by Carl F. W. Borgward (1890–1963). It produced cars of four brands, which were sold to a diversified international customer base: Borgward, Hansa, Goliath and Lloyd. Borgward's Isabella was one of the most popular German premium models in the 1950s, while Lloyd's Alexander / Lloyd 600 model offered affordable mobility to many working-class motorists. The group ceased operations in 1961, following controversial insolvency proceedings. Rudow () is a locality (''Ortsteil'') within the Berlin borough (''Bezirk'') of Neukölln. History The village was founded in 1373. Until 1920 it was a municipality of the former Teltow district, merged into Berlin with the "Greater Berlin Act". Due to its position at the borders of West Berlin with East Berlin and Brandenburg, 3/4 of its boundaries were crossed by the Berlin Wall from 1961 to 1989. Geography Rudow is located in the southern suburb of Berlin, at the boundary with the Brandenburger municipality of Schönefeld, in the district of Dahme-Spreewald. Goggomobil
Goggomobil was a series of microcars produced by Hans Glas GmbH in the Bavarian town Dingolfing between 1955 and 1969. Glas produced three models on the Goggomobil platform: the Goggomobil T sedan, the Goggomobil TS coupé, and the Goggomobil TL van. The engine was an air-cooled, two-stroke, two-cylinder unit originally displacing 250 cc, but later available in increased sizes of 300 cc and 400 cc. It had an electric pre-selective transmission built by Getrag and a manual clutch. The engine was behind the rear wheels.
