ASV De Dijk
Amsterdamse Sport Vereniging De Dijk are a Dutch amateur association football club from the Amsterdam borough of Amsterdam-Noord, in the neighborhood of Schellingwoude. The club was founded on 1 June 1999 out of a fusion of two clubs, Rood Wit-A and ASV Schellingwoude. The club hold a Sunday team, competing in the Derde Divisie (formerly Topklasse). History Rood Wit-A were founded on 13 April 1921 as VVA (Voetbal Vereniging Augustinus) joining the Katholieke Voetbalbund (Catholic football union). The name of the club was then changed to RKVVA, following the fusion of the IVCB and the KNVB, in order to tell them apart from VVA who were already competing in the KNVB. In 1957 the club merged with the gymnastics and handball clubs SVA and VDO, as well as the table tennis club KK (Katholieke Kring), becoming an Omni sports club by the name of RKSV Rood Wit Amsterdam. The Vierde Divisie, formerly known as Hoofdklasse () is the second-highest league of amateur football in the Netherlands, and the fifth tier in general. Background The league is divided into two sections: Saturday and Sunday. This is a result of the traditional pillarisation ( nl, verzuiling), the segregation of Dutch society. The ''Saturday'' clubs are mainly Protestant Christian clubs, who were not allowed to play on Sunday. The ''Sunday'' clubs were in general Catholic and working class clubs, whose players had to work on Saturday and therefore could only play on Sunday. Schellingwoude
Schellingwoude is a neighbourhood of Amsterdam, Netherlands. A former village located on the northern shore of the IJ, in the province of North Holland, it was a separate municipality between 1817 and 1857, when it was merged with Ransdorp; the latter merged with Amsterdam in 1921. Nowadays it is part of the Amsterdam-Noord borough and the Landelijk Noord district.
