AKN Eisenbahn
AKN Eisenbahn GmbH operates railway lines, commuter trains and freight trains in Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein. Its headquarters is in Kaltenkirchen. It is a member of the Hamburger Verkehrsverbund (HVV), which organises public transport in and around Hamburg. AKN is an abbreviation for Altona - Kaltenkirchen - Neumünster, its first railway line. Kaltenkirchen
(nicknamed ''Kaki''; nds, Koldenkarken or ''Kolenkarken'') is a town located 35 km north of Hamburg in Germany. It is part of the Segeberg district, in Schleswig-Holstein. It has about 20,000 inhabitants. History First mentioned in the 14th century, it flourished during the Industrial Revolution to accommodate the large number of workers in Hamburg. During World War II, a temporary airfield protected the northern towns from bombing raids, but during the raids on Hamburg the airfield was destroyed and never rebuilt. Only open fields now remain where it was. A concentration camp was established here from August 1944 to April 1945 as a subcamp to the Neuengamme concentration camp. About 700 prisoners died here. There was talk of moving the Hamburg Airport to Kaltenkirchen in the 1970s, but this did not materialise. Henstedt-Ulzburg is a municipality in the district of Segeberg, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. Schnelsen () is a quarter of Hamburg, Germany, in the borough of Eimsbüttel. In 2020 it had a population of over 30,100 people and borders the state of Schleswig-Holstein. Ulzburg Süd Station
Ulzburg Süd station is a hub on the AKN Eisenbahn network in the municipality of Henstedt-Ulzburg in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein. It is where AKN’s trunk line (the Hamburg-Altona–Neumünster railway) and the Alster Northern Railway, which are now traversed by AKN lines A1 and A2, meet. In addition, trains on line A3 (the Elmshorn-Barmstedt-Oldesloe railway) begin and end in Ulzburg Süd. The station is located on the western edge of Ulzburg Süd (south), a suburb of Henstedt-Ulzburg. Neumünster Station
Neumünster station is the main railway station of the town of Neumünster in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein. It is at the junction of lines to Flensburg, Heide, Hamburg-Altona, Kiel, Bad Oldesloe, Kaltenkirchen and until 1985 Ascheberg. The Hamburg S-Bahn is a suburban commuter railway network in the Hamburg Metropolitan Region. The Hamburg-Altona–Neumünster railway is the original line of the AKN Eisenbahn (railway) in the German states of Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein.
