Avri Ran
Avraham "Avri" Ran (born 1955) is an Israeli settler activist and businessman, with a record for repeated criminal offenses against Palestinians. He has been called the founding father and "undisputed symbol" of the Hilltop Youth movement. His approach to developing Palestinian lands has been described as "environmental racism", combining working the ''terra'' while applying terror. An organic food entrepreneur, he is also a reserve lieutenant/colonel in the IDF. He has been indicted several times, and convicted on four counts, three of assault and one case of aggravated assault. Considered in right-wing Israeli religious circles to be a "messianic hero", by some sources as a "charismatic guru", or one of the "biblical sabra", his presence in the area of the Palestinian village of Yanun has spelled "disaster" for the latter's inhabitants. Giv'ot Olam
Giv'ot Olam ( he, גבעות עולם, , Hills of Eternity) is an Israeli outpost in the northern West Bank. Located 4.5 kilometres south-east of Itamar, it falls under the jurisdiction of Shomron Regional Council. The outpost was established in late 1998 by Avri Ran, a right wing activist and organic farmer who raises free-range chickens and sells their eggs on the organic food market. The outpost's name is taken from Moses' Biblical blessing for Joseph: "with the fruitfulness of the hills of eternity." Wye River Memorandum
The Wye River Memorandum was an agreement negotiated between Israel and the Palestinian Authority at a summit in Wye River, Maryland, U.S., held from 15–23 October 1998. The Memorandum aimed to resume the implementation of the 1995 Interim Agreement on the West Bank and the Gaza Strip (Oslo II Accord). It was signed in the White House by Benjamin Netanyahu and Yasser Arafat, through negotiations led by U.S. President Bill Clinton, on 23 October 1998.
