The Avonair Cash Spiel is an annual bonspiel, or curling tournament, that takes place at the Avonair Curling Club in Edmonton, Alberta. The tournament is held in a round robin format. Don Bartlett
Donald Bartlett (born April 1, 1960) is a Canadian curler who lives in Edmonton, Alberta. Bartlett is best known for his many years playing lead for Kevin Martin. In 1999 Bartlett's home town became host the Don Bartlett Curling Classic. Now an annual curling bonspiel, the tournament attracts many teams from across Canada as well as a number of international competitors. Career Don Bartlett played lead for Kevin Martin beginning in 1990. It was in 1991 that the team won the Brier that year. The team would win the 1997 Brier. Internationally, Bartlett has been to two World Curling Championships and two Winter Olympics. At the 1991 Worlds, Martin,third Kevin Park and second Dan Petryk won a silver medal. Dean Ross
Dean Ross (born c. 1963) is a Canadian curler from Calgary, Alberta. He was the first man to represent Canada at the World Mixed Doubles Curling Championships. In 2007, Ross and teammates Susan O'Connor, Tim Krassman and Susan Wright represented Alberta at the 2008 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship. After finishing the round robin with a 10–1 record, the Calgary-based rink defeated Ontario's Bob Turcotte to win the Canadian Mixed Curling Championship. After some speculation as to who would represent Canada at the inaugural 2008 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship, the Canadian Curling Association selected Ross and O'Connor to represent the country. Ross and O'Connor finished with a 5–2 record in their group, but lost to Finland in their second semi-final challenge game, and did not win a medal. Glen Hansen
Glen Hansen (born 1962 or 1963) is a Canadian curler from Hinton, Alberta. He currently skips a team on the World Curling Tour. Hansen with teammates Tiffany Steuber, Les Steuber and Sherry French won the 2015 Alberta mixed championship and represented Alberta at the 2015 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship (played in the Fall of 2014). There the team went 3–3 in their first six games, but were relegated to the seeing pool, where they won their remaining three games, finishing 9th overall. The next season, Hansen with teammates Doug McLennan, George Parsons and former Olympic silver medallist Don Bartlett won the Alberta men's senior championships. The team represented Alberta at the 2015 Canadian Senior Curling Championships, finishing in first place after the round robin. Andrew O'Dell (curler)
Andrew Charles O'Dell FRSE FRGS FRSGS (1909–1966) was a Scottish geographer and antiquarian. A keen railway enthusiast he left a large collection of railway memorabilia to Aberdeen University, known as the O'Dell Collection. He was joint founder of the Institute of British Geographers in 1933. He was best known to the general public for his involvement in the discovery of the St Ninian's Isle Treasure in Shetland, in 1959. Life He was born on 4 June 1909 in Luipardsvlei in the Transvaal Colony, the son of Charles O'Dell. His mother was from the Scottish Borders. He was educated at Westminster City School in London.
