Avant Airlines
AVANT Airlines was a Chilean airline, belonging to Turbus. It started flying in 1997 and closed down in 2001. History AVANT Airlines made its first flights to La Serena in 1997. In the following months AVANT was flying to different cities of Chile. In 1998 it acquired another Chilean airline, National Airlines, for 24 million US Dollars. In 1999 AVANT went into bankruptcy despite having 30% of the Chilean air market. The Chilean airline was owned by the Diez family, which also owned bus company TurBus. La Serena () is a city and commune in northern Chile, capital of the Coquimbo Region. Founded in 1544, it is the country's second oldest city after the national capital, Santiago. Calama, Chile
Calama is a city and commune in the Atacama Desert in northern Chile. It is the capital of El Loa Province, part of the Antofagasta Region. Calama is one of the driest cities in the world with average annual precipitation of just . The River Loa, Chile's longest, flows through the city. Calama has a population of 147,886 (2012 census). AVANT, also known as AVANT street art guerrilla collective, was the artist group active in New York City from 1980 to 1984. By 1984 AVANT had produced thousands of acrylic on paper paintings and plastered them on walls, doors, bus-stops and galleries citywide. Principal artists were Christopher Hart Chambers, David Fried, and Marc Thorne.
