August, 2013 Islamabad Hostage Drama
On 15 August 2013, a hostage crisis occurred in Islamabad, Pakistan, in the Blue Area of the city. Malik Muhammed Sikander took one woman and two children hostage, purported to be his wife and children. The event ended after six hours due to the intervention of Zamarud Khan and the shooting of Sikander. Background Islamabad had been on high alert for the ten days preceding the event, as intelligence agencies had suggested a high likelihood of terrorist activity in the city. The week prior to the crisis, the Quetta mosque attack had taken place. However the police quickly eliminated this as an organized terrorist operation. Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb (born 1970) is a Pakistani barrister and judge who is currently one of those serving as a justice before the Islamabad High Court. Miangul Hasan Aurangzeb is the son of Miangul Aurangzeb and his wife Nasim. Athar Minallah (; born 30 December 1961) is a Pakistani jurist serving as a judge of Supreme Court of Pakistan since 11 November 2022. Prior to that, he served as the 5th Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court from 28 November 2018 to 10 November 2022. Before becoming a judge, he was a lawyer by profession and played an active part in the Lawyers' Movement which was backed by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Shariah
Sharia (; ar, شريعة, sharīʿa ) is a body of religious law that forms a part of the Islamic tradition.
