Samsung Ativ (stylized as ATIV) is the brand name used for a series of Microsoft Windows-based personal computers and mobile computing devices produced by Samsung Electronics. The word ''Ativ'' is the word ''vita'', meaning "life", written backwards. The brand was originally used for Samsung's Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8-based tablets and smartphones, including one device running Windows RT. In April 2013, Samsung announced that it would extend the brand to all of its future PC products (including conventional laptops and desktop computers, such as its newly introduced Ativ Book 5 and Ativ Book 6), and re-branded some of its existing product lines and models under the Ativ name, including "Ativ Book" (for laptops), and "Ativ One" (for all-in-one computers). Samsung ATIV S Neo
The Samsung ATIV S was a touchscreen, slate smartphone manufactured by Samsung Electronics running the Windows Phone 8 operating system, upgradeable to Windows Phone 8.1. The ATIV S was Samsung's first Windows Phone 8 device, and one of the first devices under its ATIV series of Microsoft Windows-based products. It was shown at the IFA 2012 in Berlin and was the first Windows Phone 8 device to be officially unveiled, ahead of the Nokia Lumia 920. There were three variants of the ATIV S. All feature a 4.8-inch 1280x720 HD Super AMOLED display with a pixel density of 306ppi, a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, 1 GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, near field communications, and support for HSPA+ networks. Microsoft Lumia
Microsoft Lumia (previously the Nokia Lumia) is a discontinued line of mobile devices that was originally designed and marketed by Nokia and later by Microsoft Mobile. Introduced in November 2011, the line was the result of a long-term partnership between Nokia and Microsoft—as such, Lumia smartphones run on Microsoft software, the Windows Phone operating system; and later the newer Windows 10 Mobile. The Lumia name is derived from the partitive plural form of the Finnish word ''lumi'', meaning "snow". Windows Phone 7 is the first release of the Windows Phone mobile client operating system, released worldwide on October 21, 2010, and in the United States on November 8, 2010. It runs on the Windows CE 6.0 kernel. It received multiple large updates, the last being Windows Phone 7.8, which was released in January 2013 and added a few features backported from Windows Phone 8, such as a more customizable start screen. Windows Mobile
Windows Mobile is a discontinued family of mobile operating systems developed by Microsoft for smartphones and personal digital assistants. Its origin dated back to Windows CE in 1996, though Windows Mobile itself first appeared in 2000 as Pocket PC 2000 which ran on Pocket PC PDAs. It was renamed "Windows Mobile" in 2003, at which point it came in several versions (similar to the desktop versions of Windows) and was aimed at business and enterprise consumers. When initially released in the mid-2000s, it was to be the portable equivalent of what Windows desktop OS was: a major force in the then-emerging mobile/portable areas. The Samsung SGH-i900, also known as Omnia I or WiTu (in Russia only), is a smartphone created by Samsung Mobile. Announced in June 2008, the Omnia was launched in Singapore in mid-June, available in stores on the 20th of June, and in the rest of Asia in July. For some parts of Europe, it was launched in August. It was made available for the United States in December 2008 through Verizon Wireless and for Canada in April 2009 through Telus Mobility. The Samsung Notebook 9, formerly marketed as Samsung Notebook Series 9 and Samsung ATIV Book 9, is a series of Laptop, notebook computers from Samsung Electronics, as part of its Samsung Notebook line and formerly under the Samsung Ativ, Ativ line, first launched in 2011 and its latest model released in 2019.
