The athletics competition at the 2015 African Games was held from 13–17 September 2015 at the New Kintele Stadium in Brazzaville, in the Republic of Congo. The original winners of the long jump competitions, Chinaza Amadi and Samson Idiata of Nigeria, failed drugs tests at the competition and were disqualified.Doping ban shock for Nigeria

Leonard Kiplimo Barsoton (born 21 October 1994) is a Kenyan long-distance runner who competes mainly in cross country running and track events. He has represented his country twice at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships and was a silver medallist over 10,000 metres at the African Games. Thomas Pkemei Longosiwa (born January 14, 1982) is a Kenyan professional athlete who has competed at the two Olympics, winning a bronze medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Getaneh Tamire Molla (born 10 January 1994) is an Ethiopian male long-distance runner who competes over distances up to 10K. He was the gold medallist in the 5000 metres at the 2015 African Games. Geteneh's first success at national level came at the 2015 Ethiopian Athletics Championships where he won the 5000 m title. This earned him a spot on the national team for the 2015 African Games, where he became champion. In 2016 he won both the national title at the Jan Meda Cross Country and defended his 5000 m title at the track championships. Taoufik Makhloufi ( ar, توفيق مخلوفي; born 29 April 1988) is an Algerian athlete who specialises in middle-distance running. He became the 1500 metres Olympic champion at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, England. In 2016, Makhloufi took the silver medal in the 800m and 1500 m at the Summer Olympics in Rio, Brazil.
