Asım Güzelbey, (born 1951, Gaziantep, Turkey) is a Turkish politician of the Justice and Development Party (AK Party) and a former mayor of Gaziantep (2004-2014). Asım Güzelbey is a surgeon by profession. He graduated in medicine. Gaziantep, historically Aintab and still informally called Antep, is a major city in south-central Turkey. It is the capital of the Gaziantep Province, in the westernmost part of Turkey's Southeastern Anatolia Region and partially in the Mediterranean Region. It is located approximately east of Adana and north of Aleppo, Syria and situated on the Sajur River. 2009 Turkish Local Elections
Local elections were held in Turkey on 29 March 2009. The overall winner was the ruling party Justice and Development Party, although the party saw a decline in its vote relative to the 2007 general election.
