Aleida Assmann (born Aleida Bornkamm, 22 March 1947) is a German professor of English and Literary Studies, who studied Egyptology and whose work has focused on cultural anthropology and Cultural and Communicative Memory. Life Born Aleida Bornkamm in , North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, she is the daughter of the New Testament scholar Günther Bornkamm and his wife, Elisabeth. She studied English and Egyptology at the universities of Heidelberg and Tübingen from 1966 to 1972. In 1977 she wrote her dissertation in Heidelberg about ''The Legitimacy of Fiction'' (''Die Legitimation der Fiktion''). She had to take her minor field examination in Egyptology in Tübingen because her husband Jan Assmann had become a professor of Egyptology in Heidelberg. Richard Arthur "Dick" Assman (February 14, 1934 – August 15, 2016) was a Canadian gas station employee whose name propelled him to celebrity status across North America for four months in 1995. Career In 1995, Assman moved from working at one Petro-Canada station to another. The latter station's owner took out an advertisement in the local newspaper that was sent anonymously to David Letterman, who was amused by Assman's name. Assman was introduced on July 24, 1995, on the ''Late Show with David Letterman'', where he was a nightly feature for about a month. During this time, he was known as "Assman the Gasman". Live field units in Canada interviewed him for the show. Walter Fabián Assmann (born 23 March 1986) is an Argentine professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper. Career Born in Zárate, Assmann made his debut on 21 April 2007, and played two more games in the 2007 Clasura competition. For the 2007 Apertura competition he wears the number 1 shirt, inheriting the starting goalkeeper position from Oscar Ustari, who left Independiente for Spanish ''La Liga'' side Getafe CF at the start of the 2007-08 season. On August 2009, he was loaned to Spanish club UD Las Palmas. The Argentine goalkeeper returned to Independiente in July 2010. Hans Assmann
The Lake Bodom murders is one of the most infamous unsolved homicide cases in Finnish criminal history. On 5 June 1960, at Bodom Lake in Espoo, Uusimaa, Maila Björklund and Anja Mäki (both 15) and Seppo Boisman (18) were killed by stabbing and blunt-force trauma to their heads while sleeping inside a tent. The fourth youth, Nils Gustafsson, then aged 18, was found outside the tent with broken facial bones and stab wounds. Despite extensive investigations, the perpetrator was never identified and various theories on the killer's identity have been presented over the years. Hans Erasmus Aßmann, Freiherr von Abschatz (4 February 1646 – 22 April 1699) was a German statesman and poet from the second Silesian school. Life Abschatz was born at Würbitz ( Wierzbnica) in Lower Silesia. Even though his parents died early, Abschatz attended college in Liegnitz and then studied law at the universities of Strasbourg and Leyden. Jan Assmann (born Johann Christoph Assmann; born 7 July 1938) is a German Egyptologist. Life and works Assmann studied Egyptology and classical archaeology in Munich, Heidelberg, Paris, and Göttingen. In 1966–67, he was a fellow of the German Archaeological Institute in Cairo, where he continued as an independent scholar from 1967 to 1971. After completing his habilitation in 1971, he was named a professor of Egyptology at the University of Heidelberg in 1976, where he taught until his retirement in 2003. Katja Aßmann (born 28 May 1971) is a German curator and arts administrator. She is currently the artistic director of Urbane Künste Ruhr (Urban Arts Ruhr). Peter Assmann (born 28 August 1963 in Zams) is an Austrian art historian, curator, writer and visual arts creator. Career Peter Assmann studied Art History, History and German Studies at the University of Innsbruck, where he received a doctorate degree after writing his thesis about historical fresco murals of the Santa Maria Novella monastery.
