The 2004 AFC Asian Cup was the 13th edition of the men's AFC Asian Cup, a quadrennial international football tournament organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). It was held from 17 July to 7 August 2004 in China. The defending champions Japan defeated China in the final in Beijing. The tournament was marked by Saudi Arabia's unexpected failure to even make it out of the first round; a surprisingly good performance by Bahrain, which finished in fourth place; Jordan, which reached the quarterfinals in its first appearance and Indonesia, which gained their historical first Asian Cup win against Qatar. The final match between China and Japan was marked by post-match rioting by Chinese fans near the north gate of Beijing Workers' Stadium, in part due to controversial officiating and anti-Japanese sentiment resulting from historical tensions. A'ala Hubail
A'ala Ahmed Mohamed Hubail ( ar, علاء أحمد محمد حبيل; born 25 June 1982) is a Bahraini former professional footballer who played as a striker. With the Bahrain national team, he was the top scorer in the 2004 AFC Asian Cup. 2011 detention On 5 April 2011 A'ala Hubail and his brother Mohamed (also a member of the national football team) were arrested by the Bahraini authorities and held in custody on an indefinite basis. A'ala Hubail, a trained paramedic, had attended demonstrations during the 2011 Bahraini protests and had reportedly helped provide medical assistance. Qatar National Football Team
The Qatar national football team ( ar, منتخب قطر لكرة القدم) represents Qatar in international football, and is controlled by the Qatar Football Association and AFC. The team has appeared in ten Asian Cup tournaments and won it once in 2019, beating Japan, Saudi Arabia, and South Korea in the process, conceding just one goal. They play their home games at Khalifa International Stadium and Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium. The latter is considered the home stadium for the team. The 1976 AFC Asian Cup was the 6th edition of the men's AFC Asian Cup, a quadrennial international football tournament organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). The finals were hosted by Iran between 3 and 13 June 1976. The field of six teams was split into two groups of three. Iran won their third title in a row, beating Kuwait in the final. Chengdu Longquanyi Football Stadium () is a multi-purpose stadium located in the eastern outskirts of Chengdu, Sichuan, China. Situated in the mostly suburban Longquanyi District, where it derived its name, the stadium is currently used mostly for football matches. The stadium began construction in 2003, and initially could hold 27,000 people; it was completed on June 26, 2004, in time for the 2004 AFC Asian Cup.
