Arvid Gram Paulsen
Arvid Gram Paulsen (born 4 January 1922 in Kristiania – 11 April 1963) was a Norwegian jazz musician (saxophone and trumpet) and composer. Biography Gram Paulsen joined the orchestra at Oslo Swingklubb, and a new quartet with Lulle Kristoffersen and Pete Brown, under the leadership of Rowland Greenberg (1940). Beyond the 1940s, he joined the studio band of Syv Muntre, and various ensembles led by Svein Øvergaard, Rowland Greenberg, Willie Vieth, Jens Book-Jensen, Alf Søgaard, Pete Iwers and Finn Westbye. By Kurios record contributions may be mentioned that during World War II in conjunction with Alf Søgaard, contributed to Kari Diesen's album ''Problemet''/''Minorka'' (1942). In the 1950s he played within Pete Brown's Orchestra and led his own bands. Before he died he performed at the Moldejazz in 1962. Oslo
Oslo ( , , or ; sma, Oslove) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. Moldejazz
Molde International Jazz Festival (MIJF) or Moldejazz (established 1961 in Molde) takes place annually in July, and is known as one of the oldest jazz festivals in Europe. It was initiated by the local Storyville Jazz Club. Since 1964 it has received government support, and the government Buddy Award was for several years awarded at this festival. To the extent Molde festival operates with records, is probably the bassist Bjørn Kjellemyr holder of "Most festivals in a row" musicians record. In 2015 he visits Moldejazz for the 17th time in row as performer. Two club gigs with Dag Arnesen's band is on the program for the versatile bassist. Einar Iversen
Einar "Pastor'n" Iversen (27 July 1930 – 3 April 2019) was a Norwegian jazz pianist and composer and the son of a "pastor." He went into jazz after World War II ended. Through more than sixty years, he played with everyone in Norwegian jazz. Career Iversen was raised in Oslo where he studied classical piano under Inge Rolf Ringnes, Artur Schnabel and Finn Mortensen, and quickly established himself at the Oslo jazz scene (1949). He released his first album with Rowland Greenberg's orchestra (1953), and became one of the most respected Norwegian jazz musicians, awarded Buddyprisen (1958). He played in a number of theaters, with Dizzy Gillespie at Birdland (1952), on the America Boat with Anthony Ortega (1954) and Modern Jazz Quartet (1955), and was a regular pianist at Metropol Jazz Club, where he played with jazz greats such as Dexter Gordon (1962), Coleman Hawkins (1963), Johnny Griffin (1964), and with Svend Asmussen and Stuff Smith in Sweden 1965. Jan Ditlev Hansen
Jan Ditlev Hansen (born 26 March 1946 in Trondheim, Norway) is a Norwegian Jazz journalist and program host at the NRK. He is married to Cand.polit Randi Marie Haugland, at University of Tromsø. Career Hansen has been closely involved in northern Norwegian jazz for 40 years. First in the Harstad as secretary and director of Nordnorsk Jazzforum in the early 1970s, then in Vadsø, in which he was master of ceremonies during the first Varangerfestivalen in 1982. Since 1978 he has worked for the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation, and has made numerous radio and television programs about the northern Norwegian jazz. From 1997 he has been living in Tromsø, where he produces his weekly Rundt midnatt (Around midnight) for the NRK P2. He is also part of the NRK Jazz editorial. Buddyprisen
Buddyprisen (established 1956 in Oslo, Norway) is an award, given annually by the Norwegian Jazz Forum to a Norwegian jazz musician that has "been an excellent performer and significantly involved in Norwegian jazz by other means". The award was accompanied by a statue portraiting the New Orleans trumpeter Buddy Bolden, made by visual artist Lise Frogg. From 1987, recipients have received a travel grant; in 2011, the grant amounted to NKR 50,000. The awards ceremony takes place at the club "Bare Jazz" in Oslo. In 2009, the prize was awarded at "Dokkhuset" in Trondheim. Kari Diesen
Kari Diesen (née Heide-Steen; 24 June 1914 – 18 March 1987) was a Norwegian singer and revue actress. She worked for the revue theatre Chat Noir from 1937 to 1953, and for the Edderkoppen Theatre from 1954 to 1959. She participated in 24 films between 1941 and 1985. Among her best known song recordings is her version of "Hovedøen". Personal life Kari Heide-Steen was born in Kristiania (now Oslo), Norway as the daughter of Harald Steen (1886–1941) and Signe Heide Steen (1881–1959). She was sister of actor Harald Heide Steen, and aunt of actor Harald Heide-Steen Jr. She was sister of opera singer Randi Heide Steen and thus aunt of Randi's daughter actress Anne Marit Jacobsen. She was married to actor and theatre director Ernst Diesen (1914–70), and was the mother of NRK writer and director Andreas Diesen.
