Armenian Boxing Federation
The Armenian Boxing Federation ( hy, Հայաստանի բռնցքամարտի ֆեդերացիա), also known as the Boxing Federation of Armenia, is the regulating body of boxing in Armenia, governed by the Armenian Olympic Committee. The headquarters of the federation is located in Yerevan. History The Federation was established in 1991 and is currently led by president Arthur Gorgyan. There are several professional and amateur boxing schools throughout Armenia. Armenian boxers have placed in the top 3 of various world and European championship competitions for various weight categories. Armenian boxers have participated in the Boxing World Cup. Boxing World Cup
The Boxing World Cup was an international boxing event organized by the International Boxing Association (AIBA), featuring boxers competing in different weight divisions. It was held from 1979 to 1998 as an individual competition and from 2002 to 2006 as a team competition. In 2008 the format returned to individual competition, though the team score was still accounted for. History Individual boxers were competing in their weight categories as part of the team competition, with the overall winner decided by the higher number of total wins. European Boxing Confederation
The European Boxing Confederation (EUBC) is the European governing body in amateur boxing. It is a member of the world governing body AIBA. It came into existence on the adoption of its constitution on February 16, 2009, taking over the functions of the former European Amateur Boxing Association (EABA). The president of the EUBC is Franco Falcinelli (former president of Italian Boxing Federation- Federazione Pugilistica Italiana). The International Boxing Association (IBA), previously known as the Association Internationale de Boxe Amateur (AIBA), is an independent sport organization that sanctions amateur (Olympic-style) boxing matches and awards world and subordinate championships. Umar Nazarovich Kremlev (Russian: Умар Назарович Кремлёв; born on November 1, 1982 in Serpukhov) is a Russian sports functionary who is serving as the President of the International Boxing Association (IBA). He has been Secretary General and Member of the Executive Committee of the Boxing Federation of Russia since February 2017. Boxing ( hy, բռնցքամարտ ''břntsk'amart'', literally "fist fight") in Armenia is a popular sport, that existed in the Armenian Highland since ancient times. Amateur boxing schools in the country appeared in early 1900s, by the mid-1950s boxing became one of the traditional sports in Armenia. A wide array of sports are played in Armenia. Popular sports in Armenia include football, basketball, volleyball, and ice hockey.
